I used to feel that way, but the amount of disproportionately disrespectful and hateful posts i've had to read through here in order to waste time in peace has become obnoxious. I don't have that much negativity in my life, but I have enough that I don't need any more of it. I only ignore those people who prove they have nothing interesting or worthwhile to offer, who are twats without having a good sense of humor about it, who dehumanize and flame indiscriminately behind the comfort of their mom's basement desks. |

why should anyone need to read stupid , all the time? :wtf:
we have feed readers and website aggregators that give us only what we're interested in. I've cut out that which I'm not interested in, and it's more enjoyable all around.
The problem is internet forums still exist in web1.0, when people used the word 'cyberspace', in which 'manning up' was the only thing you could do. These days you can make the web what you want.
Forums will shortly be replaced by follower-based social networking like Google+.
Hell, if google+ had circles that could be subscribed to, ie autopopulated with everyone else who subscribes, and also nested/concentric circles, it could easily render all forums obsolete. |

I don't know, I think the new way of "whitelisting" only the stuff we like can be a bad thing. Everyone wrapped in their own little cocoon of pre-approved sources and opinions that make them feel warm and fuzzy.
Of course, there's a difference between intelligent disagreement and just pure idiocy, like some of the people here give you.
