So yesterday I was just updating my soundcloud, did see a recommendation for an app called Music Xray, which should bring "opportunities" for your work posted on social networks.

So I thought, sceptic as i am, i thought, let's see what it does, clicked the button, linked my SC account and then the started, floodings of emails with what Xray calls "opportunities" but in reality are SPAMMING emails to get your money. Nobody DJ's who offer to listen to your track for 9$, advert bureaus who want to take over your rights for nothing. Chart ranking sites, who ask you 10$ to have you song on their crappy obscure site.

It's worse than viagra emails. And I am REALLY ing dissapointed that Soundcloud even allows this kind of SPAM presenting itself as an app on their website. Please be warned, it's the utter gutter of trying to squeeze out money from home producers looking for exposure. Also note, there is no way to unsubcribe.......

As they say if it looks like a duck......
I had some hope it would be an app connecting real people with real needs or offers, but it's just a front-end for a bunch of bots using meta-data from your tracks to do some targetted spamming.

So i'm not too worried about X-ray emails flooding my SPAM folder. I'm just really dissapointed in SoundCloud that they even allow this kind of roque spamming crap wrapped up in an app on their reputable webiste. I'm a paying Soundcloud customer, integrity of recommendations is an important value to me. Soundcloud recommending this app degrades them to cheap advertizing tactic sell-outs IMHO.

LOL, it's not that any money has been spend, i mean you must be pretty thick to "invest" in people listening to your music. I was just very dissapointed that Soundcloud even wants to affilitate with this bull

In the end it seems to me that all these silver bullet social networking things end up boiling down to over hassled overloaded music consumers getting even more overloaded with messages from the music world.

You should read the recent FM articles on all this stuff, you'd never have any time left if you acted on the advice these ******s give out.

Even this wall of remix competitions is just another gimmick designed to trawl and capture a load more ears ready to be email spammed. I don't even read most emails now - it's just a wall of junk. I cant get excited about these remix competitions the way some of you do - perhaps I'm in the wrong though.

Very true Richard, social networking has evolved in asocial spamming

yeah these latest remix competitions or "vote for my mix" competitions seem to be the latest wave of very clever marketing and increased exposure

Raphie, precisely my opinion. I also checked out this app Xray through Soundcloud, got flooded with spams and immediately deleted my profile again. Indeed a shame that Soundcloud wants its reputation be smeared by this app.

At the same time, I can not see any serious musician wanting to stay on Xray longer than 10 minutes after having received 10 mails within 10 minutes.
