I've been toying with the cutoff and resonance in Nexus all day trying to get this effect. I believe I have done it before but with low pass filter. Wondering if there is a way to do this just in Nexus with the cutoff and res, because the free filter sort of changes the overall sound a bit. I know it's a rom synth and all so maybe not? :\ Help me. Examples below.

Yeah, those are just low pass filter sweeps over a saw wave. First one is down and then up, second one is just up.

How do you use a low pass filter for just a short amount of time? For example I just want to use it for the sweep. Cause it changes the sound coming from the synth considerably.

Use automation in your sequencer, or record yourself sweeping the filter by hand.

I know how to use automation. But when you add the fx to the mixer, in this case the low pass, it stays on that channel throughout the entire song. How can I just use it for a short sequence.

Why would you need an external filter? Does Nexus not have an automatable filter inside it?
If you want the effect only for a short bit, then just draw in the automation for that part and leave the filter at whatever cutoff you want for the rest of the track...

I don't think it does. I have toggled with it all day and haven't got anything close to the example. Yes, I know how to do an effect in a vst for a short bit, but I figured I needed an external low pass filter as you mentioned. And that s the sound entirely :S So...

Okay, you CAN automate Nexus's Filter. CAN. In FL Studio. Yea.
In the browser, go to:
Current Project> Generators> Nexus(name of channel here)
In that folder there will be a load of words and pictures of knobs and . Find the one that says Cutoff or something. Right click. Then yea. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM You can automate it.
As for how to get that sound, use a highly resonant lowpass filter and sweep it up and down or whatever. Yea. Might want to look for some Psytrance tutorials or something.

I said I already know how to automate lol. So I need an external lowpass filter for this??? .... :wtf: I just wanted to do this in the actual plugin if possible.

Where is the internal lowpass filter in Nexus? I can achieve the effect I'm going for in Nexus alone?
