Saw this on a blog somewhere:

Spoiler alert: The EDC Experience is getting really high, listening to music, and wearing as little clothes as possible.

From Insomniac mailing:

Eighty-six theaters across the country will still be showing the EDC Experience on Thursday, August 4th, 2011! And while we regret to announce that Cinnemark has also pulled the Electric Daisy Carnival Experience film from their theaters and broken contract with NCM/Fathom Events under misconceptions that the film's fans and the events in Hollywood were somehow related, we have some great news coming your way as more theater partners and venues are coming on board for encore presentations!
We know that you, our fans, are incredible, creative, law-abiding and respectful individuals - and we are committed to making sure you all can enjoy viewing this film soon in any way that we can. Our fans overseas will also be able to catch the film in the Fall. Please check back for updates! We promise that this show will go on, and on. Make sure to get your tickets to those available shows, as they are sure to sell out!

I'm really bummed I can't attend the midnight showing now.

I was looking forward to dressing up as my favorite character...clueless 16 year old rave girl with barely any clothes on #58.

a review from a friend

I tried watching this movie with the least amount of bias that I could. I walked into this movie theatre 15mins before showtime, Kaskade feat. Dragonette "Fire in your Shoes" thumping in the movie theatre, and a few pints of beer in my system - pumping me up to see what Insomniac has to offer. Excited to experience "The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience" with butterflies I have not experienced since my High School days in the Rave scene growing up in Southern California. Thinking to myself, 'Insomniac, I would have never guessed this promotional group that was pushing Massive events, exposing me, in 2000 and 2001, to events I used to attend such as, How Sweet it Is, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), Audiotistic, and Together as One, to be this big. Now I'm waiting to watch this unravel 10 years later.'

I will make an attempt to give my take on the movie without spoiling the movie. But, before I begin, I would not recommend this movie.

The movie begins with scenes of people out in Los Angeles on Sunset Blvd. in front of the Chinese Mann Theatre, with clips of people "planking" in the middle of the street on gravel, shuffling and taunting LAPD officers in their daily uniforms as they stood there watching. A staff member of the theatre is explaining to us why there is no audio to the beginning of the movie, telling us verbally there is suppose to be a "Disclaimer" regarding some scenes that might not be suitable for younger audience. Then, the audio plays abruptly drowning out the theatre staff member.. leaving a bitter taste, not from the beer in my hand, but from the unprofessionalism and type of negative media exposure EDC has received in the week leading up to this premiere, but I shrug it off and continue watching.

As I sat, in the dark, watching footage from the LA Colosseum I thought to myself, 'this is footage from 2010. I really hope to see footage from this years 2011 EDC in Vegas.' I am now noticing the main focus of this movie are a few members of the Insomniac crew, along with some DJ's (which I won't name), mainly Kaskade, Will.I.am and a Gogo dancer. Then, the movie is over with clips of Deadmau5's 2010 tour from EDC ending the movie and the audio mixing into the credits… then, at the end of the credits, coming spring 2012, what I wanted to see EDC:Vegas.

I felt as though the movie did not capture the full experience of "The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience" like it sought out to be. However, to someone that has not experienced this sort of event, they would be curious to see how these sort of events play out, and I think Insomniac did a good job of promoting the future of EDC and themselves as a promoter. I'd recommend you go experience this Event for yourself if you haven't already.

One major issue that bugged me was the bad mix levels throughout the movie and how the movie was mixed in Stereo, not making use of the Surround Sound which would have created a better experience by putting the audience into the experience, instead we watched the experience happen in front of us. Plus, I felt disappointed at the many acts that were not represented in "The Electronic Daisy Carnival Experience." Overall, the intentions and message of how people unite to share a moment in time brought together by the love of electronic dance music was good, although, the movie came off as one big marketing tool for the select acts/DJ's.

technically 2 speakers are all you need to recreate 3-dimensional sound, you don't need surround sound

having more channels only makes it easier to reproduce "surround"
