Free Bicycle Service in GTA

Hey people,

When I lived in Ottawa they had a bicycle repair shop on Bronson st which was funded by the government and would charge like $5 an hour for any service. They wouldn't just fix the bike, they'd teach you how to fix it. Basically you had to do most of the job yourself under their guide. Is there such a thing in Toronto? I need to fix my brakes and put a rack and lights on my bike.

yeah, its called google.

If you just need the brake pads replaced google it, if there is a larger issue, get some help for sure! Not something you want to mess up.

I have not heard of such a service in Toronto, but that is pretty neat.

Closest thing you'll find in T.O.:

$40 on regular tune ups for bike from a good shop is an excellent 40 bucks spent

Yes it is neat.

by the way, I googled before making this thread and didn't find what I want so I made this thread. Someone has found me as the target of spreading their haterd. I don't have time for that thus he is on my ignore list. ;)

thanks a lot man, I'll give them a try. My bike needs a basic tune up. I used youtube videos as my guide, and I have done most of it except the front brakes. Basically I want to properly learn how to do it rather than paying $40 each time for a simple task.
feelgood
Search "park tool repair help" if you want to do it yourself. Plenty of info there. Being mechanically inclined also helps.
I'd link it for you but my goddamn internet is out and I'm typing this from my blackberry.

Most universities have a free or at least cheap bike repair shop run by whatever their bike advocacy group is. Generally the quality of the work is average at best, but you asked for cheap.
