I'm certainly an , but at least I'm consistent. I was just commenting on how there is a wrong way to react to criticism completely out of the venues control. creator showed how to do it the right way.

relax testicles.

i was sad that you guys made creator say that you had only negative stuff to say and nothing positive on his night. the only negative posts i've read the following day were on here. it is a fact. Not insulting anyone, just saying that people should read what others have to say before saying EVERYONE disliked it. You are entitled to your opinions but respect the people that bring these nights and people that loved them, be a bit more constructive before dissing all of it… reading "worse night ever" hurts me bad when i saw 1000 fans having fun.

if you liked digweed, you know nothing, is what comes out of this thread… sorry but that's not fair… you can't discuss people's taste. I liked his night so i know nothing about music ? right...

for the record jay, aria closed one year after i left for circus. moreover marketing is not at all the reason it closed. get your story straight before dissing me… i don't think i deserve this at all from you.

Digweed is one of my all time favourites, and I will admit that I went in with high expectations after being blown away back in June. I left early, and I did not fully enjoy Digweed this time around. I did not have that same musical connection with him.

I felt Digweed did not have a good flow at all with his set, and the track selections for me were completely off. I have seen Digweed on numerous occasions, and I have completely enjoyed him even when he wasn't banging out techno beats all night. For a bit, I was getting a little excited because I felt as if he was going to take us on one of his “space ship” rides, just eerie and spooky. This didn’t last very long. He seemed to be so all over the board. I kept trying to tell people, give him a chance... let him tell his story. Have patience. I waited. Around 7-730 or so, he did start pulling out a nice hard chugging arsenal, and did pick it up quite a few notches, which had me smiling again, but this was too late for me by now. Knowing he was scheduled to play until 8, I had given up. I didn’t feel a story through the set this time, and Digweed is always to me, one of the master story tellers behind the decks. I do understand every DJ has their off night, and that is totally fair and I accept that.

I still enjoyed being at Circus, as it is a fun club to adventure through. The music just did not do much for me this time around.

I counted maybe 10 reviews on here and it was almost 50/50, those are the actual facts.

IMO, the FB audience is much bigger but you generally get less dicerning posters, less analyses on there as well. I wouldn't worry too much about TA, not enough lurkers or posters on here anyways.

But then again, if the reviews are constructive, at least (i.e, "the event sucked, because....") then you guys can learn a thing or two to improve the product, nothing wrong with that.

Btw, the djs in the other rooms were very very good too.

the review by Knox is constructive, imo.

Are you guys able to nudge the dj before the gig and say "the crowd likes it hard" or do the djs booked at Circus have absolute carte blanche to play what he/she wants to play?? I know some promoters do that but there's a fine line there, as that can obviously be quite annoying for the respective dj.

I'd imagine they give someone like Digweed the benefit of the doubt

bien sűr :p

Plus Montreal brings out the individuality and creativity too but complacency can be a killer sometimes too.

ps props to malick + chopin who ripped up the other room on sunday!!!!

one very important thing I realized in this industry is you just cant please everyone. However, I also agree that positive criticism goes much further than negative criticism.

now that im back home, time for a better review.

Digweed @ Guv not long ago was pure insanity....and as Knox said, it sounds like he did the same to Circus the night before. Those nights were journeys that are very hard to beat. However, people are used to Digweed constantly outdoing himself, which is a feat in itself.

I really love the new look of Circus...last time I came it was for Preach when he played in the room upstairs and that was one hell of a sauna. I didnt venture into the main room much then since the other dj was trance.

This time around, I ventured a bit. Had no idea how big Circus is! I really like the lighting setup. So serious work done in that department (love the lighted top part of the towers and the lights beaming between towers within the racking). Sound system wise, definitely a powerful system. I came prepared and brought er-20s. Very glad i did since it was a tad louder than what i normally deal with. I cant imagine dancing all night in front of a stack.

Music wise, I caught the tail end of Creator's opening set. Really enjoyed the last 30 mins. It picked up the pace and really set up the sound for digweed. Digweed then played good for 30 mins and then went for a good 2-2.5 hours of uninspiring house. That part failed to drum up my energy. As much as I love the Lee Foss'y track he played.....felt so off to hear from Diggers! By 745, Digweed turned on the banging switch and ripped it until 830. Loved the closing track. Overall, had I arrived at 730, I would have been pleased about his set (albeit very short). Unfortunately, the journey wasnt there.

Creator then took it back and laid a great opening. We didn't stay much longer since we were tired....and knew 3 more rounds of partying were coming before returning to TO.

In short:
Creator 7/10
Digweed 5/10 gotta give a fail grade.
Circus setup 8/10
Bathroom situation.....well its clean...very clean like a zamboni cleaned her up every 5 mins :) And dude pukin next 2 me....not good lol

Im still shocked at the openness of some things...but not the place to discuss.

Let me add my 2 cents... and let me preface this by saying that I didn't attend the event.

@ Fran & Spin: I totally agree that people should give constructive criticisms on a event rather than "it just sucked". But how do you go about doing it when the target of the criticisms is not the venue or the promoters themselves, but an international DJ who doesn't read this forum anyway?

Unless I missed a few posts, most people had an issue with Digweed's set (i.e. the music), not the club, the setup or the sound. I doubt there was anything anyone could have done to change that, other than switching DJs.... And what's the point of suggesting what Digweed should have played when he's not around to learn from it ? Therefore there's no way you can be constructive in this situation.

However, I do agree that people should abstain from generalizing. You can say I had a bad time or Me and my friends had a lousy time but don't say everyone was bored.
