Why do you need wild wood speaker cable to be on ASOT? Whole buncha horse manure if you ask me. All you need is some good programs, studio headphones, a nice soundcard, and you're set.

Why get a Mac? They're overly expensive and overrated. You can get 3x as good a PC laptop for the price of a CrapBook Pro. Buy a PC laptop and an amazing soundcard; not only will you have a more versatile system, you'll also have a load of cash leftover.

...unless you're running Logic...

i really hope people have more ambitions than to be on ASOT really. or else we are all ed. btw the reason for getting a mac to me was OSX & Logic, not just Logic, I really cant stand Windows anymore. If OSX (with Logic) came on a regalar PC (legaly with support and all) Id do it any day cause frankly the mac looks gay, but that doesnt seem to be how apple plan win the price. When money stands in the way of technology and development then I am disapoint. Id love to have a normal stationary computer again, with OSX. No not hackintosh.

A Hackintosh would do you more than swell. I don't know why you're beating on it. :clown:

Aye they don't come cheap! i'm not a huge fan of credit, but i ended up getting the mac pro on finance (interest free) & it's genuinely turned out to be one of the best purchases i've ever made. Refurbs & end of line models are also worth a look in:)

I'm not old enough to have a credit card...

I would love to do the same thing you did and pay everything off later. That would be my dream! That way, I could buy my whole studio and rock productions.

Too bad Apple's educational discounts are quite small...

CREDIT IS BAD mmkay:p

Don't fall into the trap young! credit should only ever be an option never a solution. Have the money in your pocket first & we'll talk ok:D

I'm beginning to feel like an old man btw; i'm only 27 & i'm giving advice like this...fu*k is wrong with me:stongue:

So my parentals have told me. I don't plan to get a credit card any time soon. After all, I turn 18 in a few months, and having a credit card already at 18 years of age is not too good of an idea. :p

I have some cash saved up for a possible studio upgrade. We'll see if the Mac appeals to me when I decide to upgrade. ;)

if i was short on cash, a mac would not be a priority of mine as you can do just about anything on a PC too (not logic of course). Cubase, Ableton, Reason, all works great on PC, put your money in monitoring instead (speakers, soundcard, room-threatment, maybe headphones too). Then get a mac later when you have better pay, if you would like to try Logic. And yes, dont buy on credit unless you know are able to pay it down next month. If you ever get a creditcard, limit it to your own montly paycheck so that you are able to pay it all down in one month.

It depends what you're looking to use it for! simplified you can think of it as; DI inputs for guitars, preamps for mics, line inputs for synths...with that in mind, how many are you likely to need? having a few more is never a bad thing for future proofing of course:)

Something basic. I don't plan on really recording anything with mics anytime soon. I don't own any hardware synths or anything. Perhaps eventually I will one day. But for now I'm just looking for your standard high quality interface.
