I know that there is funny stuff on how some Dj's get their name, let's c how many all u ppl out there know :)

well, from the top of my head, Dj Taucher got his one coz he once wore a diver's wetsuit to go clubbing (or sumthing similar along this line).. and taucher is german for wetsuit, rite?

and Ayla happened to b a turkish chick in production building so that's how Ayla got it's name

let's c how creative the Dj's r in selecting their alias?? hmm :)

Cafe del Mar

Here is wat I found on Cafe del Mar...

"An oasis of calm amidst the turbo-fueled clubbing tornado that is Ibiza, Café Del Mar is the White Isle's original home of red-eye chill-out vibes and weepy sunset soundtracks. The series of compilations bearing the bar's name, meanwhile, have long patented that authentic sound of Balearic bliss (even claiming Madonna as a huge fan), and this seventh volume maintains the high standards. Founding DJ Jose Padilla may have long moved on, but his successor, DJ Bruno, is clearly well aware of the old adage about not fixing what ain't broke."

so guess they named themself after a bar... :)

great idea for a post I'm surprised you guys don't know any. I remember reading what Tiesto meant, but I forget, someone has to know =(

D:Fuse? I don't know maybe he was a light bulb in a past lifetime? Ok that was lame.

I spin under my own name Jonathan Rinaldo, but if I had to pick a dj name, I like "fixed", I actually like "halo" better but some house dude already took that name. =(

Ohhh, I just remembered DJ Anabolic Frolic (Canadian Happy Hardcore DJ) said he got his name from like a yogurt flavor or milkshake or some . Hilarious!

Let's see...

D:Fuse is short for Dustin Fuselier (sp) which is supposedly his real name.

Judge Jules....the judge part was given to him by his friends. He had gone to law school and had a got a law degree.....

Sasha....heard that Sasha = Alexander in Russian.

Anybody know how those Dutch guys got their names when they teamed together? Like Gouryella and the such?

JdDark
If I'm not mistaken, Gouryella has a mythical meaning, like Walhalla is the afterlife for Vikings.
And the record label Tsunami means a huge tidal wave.
Chewy
yeah, i tink gouryella has something 2 do with the aborigines (australia indigenious ppl, the first settlers) - it's reflected in their VDO clip.

tiesto = flowerpot in spanish? i hope someone knows the story behind this one.

hmm, does anyone know how the name "Cygnus X" came 2 b? it's a cool name and wonder how they stuble across it.
cyberia
Cygnus is sort of a cool looking dustcloud in space,in our galaxy:) and one of those dustclouds near our planet is called cygnus-x,tha's the story
I'm guessing that Yves deruyter is called this way beacuse of his parents! :D
ATB> it's just an abbriviation of his name André TannenBerger

magrec
don't know how tiesto got the name tiesto?

walhalla is the afterlife for aborigonals (or gouryella is teh afterlife but i think it is walhalla)

it is because of ferry corsten he likes to watch discovery channel :)
arturob
PvD real name is Paulus.. but he uses Paul.
ans his last name is van Dyk.

respect,
