Hey everyone,
As mentioned in the title, I'm looking to buy some new studio monitoring headphones. I've read a lot of forum posts, visited a lot of websites, even asked some vendors, and basically it's all down to Sennheiser headphones, or AKG headphones, because I'm on a budget and looking for something less than $100. However, within those 2 brands, there are a lot of options, especially with AKG. I have no idea about the prices though. The vendors I asked have about 2 or 3 models within each of those 2 brands (if any, depending on the shop), but they said that they can order any model from those 2 brands so I can still pretty much choose any model from those 2 brands. Basically, I'm looking as I said for something that's less than $100, and these are the criteria that I want to base my decision on:
1.) How close the monitoring headphones resemble club speakers, so that what I produce and hear would sound as close as possible to what it would sound like if it's played in a club, frequency response wise, and clarity wise, distinguishing instruments, etc...I heard AKG have many flat-response monitoring headphone series, it's so overwhelming I don't know which are the best according to the criteria and which ones are below $100.
2.) How well-reviewed it is.
3.) As mentioned, how flat its signal response is and how well it doesn't accent/highlight any specific frequency or range of frequencies but maintaining clarity at the same time.
If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE reply I need all the advice I can get...
P.S: I heard the Sennheiser HD280's are pretty good, but I've read more and better reviews about AKG headphones in general...
P.P.S: I know studio monitoring headphones don't compare to proper monitors, but I don't have the budget for that right now, or the space, as I'm still a college student right now so it's a bit impractical to buy speakers as I'd have to move them around every year when I move out of the dorms, and I don't even think I have space for them there and also complaints etc etc...so monitoring headphones are my best option atm.
I actually own a set of Sennheiser PX 200-II's and they're amazing for normal listening headphones, I have been producing with them so far but I don't intend to for long as they aren't meant for production.
Peace! |
