I don't think the problem w/ Reason is lack of VST support. I like Reason just fine w/out it. But, I do wish that I could get more voices out of the synths. There are VST's out there which can produce over 600 voices. I still to this day wonder how many I get out of a typical Thor w/ three Multi-Oscilators with them slightly detuned- I bet 9 maybe emulating a few more? Probably. That's the only REASON why I think I might want VST support in Reason. But, for now, I'm okay w/ out it.

are you stupid? if u need more than 16 voices just add another instance. LOL man just lol. please stop talking about things you dont know about. VST support in Reason is stupid as it has all the instruments youll ever need included!

How could you say 16 voices is enough? I've heard out of the box presets that quadrouple 10 instances of whatever synth you want to put out in Reason. And when you can get a synth that has over 600 voices. Are you kiddin? That's a powerful synth. Obviously, being able to have those many voices will intensify whatever sound your trying to create. So part of me thinks its a lot easier to just open up a VST that gives you that kinda of power instead of creating 15 instances of Thor just to emulate a sound that can be made in one instance of Absynth. And then, in addition to that, I have several Reason Soundsets and not even the most powerful of sounds in that soundset is equivalent to an external VST.

Seems like they got rid of the annoying bug where the first note of a pad got cut when looping in rewire mode.

I'm upgrading since I don't need 1000 voices in one synth like the fella above. My poor hearing says thor has more than enough using multiosc. New filter and echo look very cool.

don't get me wrong.. the Thor synth still sound full. And you can also add other instances to make it even more full. But, nothing compares to a really good VST imo.

nice to see some good talking in a thread for once!!

im with alot of you guys on this one

reason is great rewired, as a fast sketch pad (no other wins)

it was a big fail with record and reason, didnt really suit for dancey productions etc, why would you use something like that when cubase or logic even fruity offers a better complete package in one?

so yeah im on 5, and will get 6 as ever as im pretty die hard, but its merely a tool for the bigger picture these days, as cubase is my main program, everything always starts in reason though

it will be nice to get all the good bits from record in reason however, back under one roof so to speak

i cant ever really see vst support in reason without a massive re haul of the whole program...which i doubt will happen

id like to see better fx suites in there, more creative tools

is the dongle confirmed? its a dealbreaker to me.

offtopic: Is logic avaliable for download? I have the DVDs but I want replace the DVDROM with a HD, and Logic is the only reason i need a DVDROM now that both Reason and Ableton comes as downloads.

damn someone is getting owned here.

It's just been launched. I'm still split over whether I should buy it or not - I'm still pissed that propellerheads are being douchebags over the simple midi issue.

maybe I was talking about partials.. I dunno.. I'm re-watching this video now.. but I could've sworn this video said something about having over 600 voices which prompted me to doubt Reason's synth capabilities.. but.. I'm assuming w/ over 320 partials that's what I was talking about..

how many partials/voices does any given Reason synth have?
