Then again, I should maybe work on getting comps instead and be more biased on here. I could maybe use some Stereo kneepads like the ones you have :p

Ha just saw this. Of the five times I've been to Stereo since they reopened, I've enjoyed about 5 hours cumulatively of the music I heard. I managed to catch an unfortunate string of off nights for the artists involved I suppose. What I am biased towards is a club based on passion for the music, as opposed to one being built on very different intentions across the street, and its "beach" themed counterpart. I understand you like the scummier side, so you clearly don't have that limitation on your views. Really opens up one's options I would imagine.

when was last time you heard Cox play funky? (lol. years ago?)

I´m in Montreal every couple months usually so not like its a special trip but I see what you mean, the money isn´t the biggest thing, its more of two nights of techno and no trance.. And funky techno ok well different techno than Digweed lol.

Overall though, do most people think MTL > TO for Labour day?

they all have their appealing and un-appealing aspects and I don't think I'm ever fully satisfied at one place - probably just a by-product of the different layers of who I pretty much am and, consequently, what I see and experience when I'm out. I like the essense of Stereo and its "there-for-the-music" crowd, the sketchiness and rawness of BPM or Comfort Zone, the sheer scale of the Montreal's massives, the decadence of some 'edm' nightclubs, the laid back, free-spirited groove of Piknic, and the exhitionist debauchery of Beach Club :p

I can appreciate that but in other respects I also get bored or turned off when exposed to too much of something after awhile. It's not uncommom for me to try and drag friends who only do Stereo to try Circus on occasion, or those who do Beach Club to try Piknic for a change (Mrs Haus can verify all of the above hehe). Since Stereo re-opened I've probably gone about a dozen times but anything gets stale with me if I do it too much, and in the case of Stereo, I was finding their Saturday bookings to be rather uninspiring after awhile. However, I did return after a five-month hiatus and the energy felt almost as fresh and intense as it did when I did the Stereo re-opening wknd with Roger Sanchez in 2009.

With me there's a time and place for all kinds of music, all kinds of crowds, all kinds of places. Put me in a country bar and if the timing is right, I'll probably enjoy that too.:p

Only interest I have in LOL is really Super8 & Tab and the fact that 2 of my good friends I dont see very often are going. Other than that I prefer Montreal. Also still can´t decide about Cox or Circus. Its either gonna be, one night of darker techno then night of funky techno (Cox) and a different club. Or two nights at same club but techno one night and more trancey stuff the next. Plus hard time deciding when the tickets are gonna cost me 100$ for 2 people to Cox...

What about you guys?

Welcome back to MTL everyone!

Just want to jump in to confirm that Cherry nightclub is a must before after-hours. Very cool underground club, great vibe. Music is always house, mostly with tribal influences. Try it! It is really close to U.N. so you can do both in one night. People here go out around midnight in general. Don't arrive at 10PM, clubs will be empty.

I also recommend that you venture on the frenchier side of town and check out Salon Daomé in the Plateau neighborhood: guaranteed fun. Loft style bar/club, amazing music every night, not pretentious (no dress code), cheaper alcohol too. Walking east-west on Mount-Royal street can be fun, lots of pubs and restaurants, some shopping too, different vibe than st-laurent and crescent, hot french hipster girls can be found there day and night. The area to scan on Mt-Royal st. is between St-Laurent and Papineau, it's about one km. Enjoy!

This is my first trip outta Toronto and seems like the right decision as I've seen by the comments and reviews about MTL! I will be lucky enough to stay at a friends place who is lending me his bachelor pad. Friday will be first night back to clubbing in like six months ! Not sure if any of you know but a west coast dj named FEI FEI is going to be at Circus and I've been waiting sooo long to see her!

If anyone wants to chill anytime or have some TOTA get together I'd be down! Hopefully some of you can steer me in the right direction for sat/sun. I don't think going to Circus everyday that weekend is the right decision. Carl Cox seems like the crowd favorite!

Whoever needs a ride friday I am west of Toronto so just PM if interested!
