Headphone Amp Picking up Audio Interface Noise

Hey guys,
My current sound setup is Mobo F/W -> audio interface (m audio F/W Solo) Headphone Jack -> Little dot MkIII amp -> akg 702 headphones.
It seems the little dot is picking up noise from my pc (I'm guessing) via the audio interface. When I plug my headphones directly into the Audio interface, there is no noise. When I plug in a different source (ie ipod) to my headphone amp, there is no noise as well.
I've searched everywhere, and read the little dot's own FAQ on the subject (which didn't tell anything about solving my problem, just outlining it).
The only thing I can think of is using the dual 1/4 inch bal / unbal outputs in the back of the solo to the amp instead of the headphone jack, but I don't have that cable right now to give it a shot.
Any Ideas on how I can rectify this problem? I've though of maybe buyign a standalone f/w card, or possibly a new audio interface (though this seems to me like it would suffer the same issue).
Thanks alot. |

hey thanks for the fast reply, As far as I'm concerned the solo isn't really an amp (it has a preamp but...)? Or at least if it is it certainly doesn't have enough power to drive my power hungry akg 702's (they sound like going directly from the FW SOLO no bass at all).
Also which line out would you be speaking of in the firewire solo? I only see the headphone output, bal, unbal and spdif outputs. |

right now I'm using a 1/4" TRS (balanced, though not like it matters) to 2 RCA from the headphone jack. So if I understand you correctly, what your saying is use 2 unbalanced TRS to RCA cables, which go from the 2 unbalanced outputs in the back of my solo to the RCA jacks on my little dot?
So the entire chain would be FIreWire -> Solo -> Headphone amp Via 2 unbalanced -> akg 702's |
