pursuit of happiness?

I've had many unfortunate series of events happen to me over my life, but today's really hit hard.

I don't get how someone can be happy (on a daily basis) in life - I really don't.

It's marked full of struggle and strife. No matter how hard you work or try, there's always a problem and obstacle to overcome.

This goes for anyone and everyone.

The "bad" things are sensationalized, while the "good" is overlooked unless money or riches is involved.

How the does one gain happiness? I mean a full sense of content, and capability to correspond with one's surroundings without losing sanity?

First step is to stop moping about all your misfortunes and create your own happiness.

I agree about the moping, but how do you create your own happiness?

Is that possible considering the amount of external influences that we have in our lives?

Internally , I think we all possess the power to find true happiness. Unfortunately, we are all so bombarded with external influences that we can never fully tap into our true being to find that pure and powerful content within ourselves.

Can a human being find true happiness with a system in place to manage him/her?

You can find happiness in anything. My dog just accidentally bit my hand and immediately ran away before I even reacted. That made me smile.

There's no system in place to govern how you feel internally.

anal. with a really, really hot chic. i guarantee that you'll be happy for at least a whole week.

after that, rinse and repeat. if you can't pull 10s then look up some high end escorts that offer PSE.

it's the only thing that's kept my from goin over the edge for the last 8 yrs :D sometimes i wonder where'd i'd be if it wasn't for them...:haha:

But there's an influence?

We cannot live life productively without having this external influences present in our daily lives, right?

Finding happiness at times is easy. Having overall happiness is what I'm talking about.

I talk to people about this all the time and the most common response I get is: "find your faith in God," "put your faith in God," God will show your the way."

The only influence on how happy you are is you.

guys guys, why do we have to be happy?

i think in most places in the world, happiness is set as some sort of ultimate goal and that it should be our "default" state.

this is why we get so freaked out when we're not happy.

You pick up this working girl who's hooked on smack, who hussles and scores. "That's all I do" she says, she says "Ten bucks for head, fifteen for half-and-half". She says "Three hits a day at 35 per", you say "that's seven tricks a day at least", but she says "sometimes I get lucky. Once this guy gives me a bill-and-half just to eat me, only time I ever came". You figure you can save her.
You sell your color tv, that keeps her off the streets a whole day. You hawk your typewriter for one job. Then your shotgun, your watch. A week later you say "Listen I'm a little short", but she says "No scratch, no snatch". You say "Look it is better to give", but she says "Beat off creep".
One night they spot you on the street in your skibbies trying to sell your shoes. You tell them who you are, but they nail you. Then she happens by and she says " Christ you look ed", she says "Hang tough!". But you don't say anything, you just think "what a bum rap for a nice, sensitive guy like me".

This is the meaning of life.

Yes! We define our own happiness by what we've perceived, been told or acknowledged as being happiness from our birth. Our external influences!

My question is, how do we reject these external influences (that are and will always be there) from impacting how we feel about ourselves and the world around us?

Is it possible, or do we need to accept our existence with the external influences and somehow manage to manipulate our own minds to find a sense of overall happiness?
