Because what a lot people recognize as music is an onslaught of commercialized crap.
I'm just bitter, because I hate stepping into a place not knowing that it's playing Top 40. Usually ruins my vibe and night all together unless I quickly change venues. |

i think you need to research where you're going before going out. it's really easy, with the internet. most places will post exactly what type of environment they have or are having that night right on their webpage. |

Massive and fairly stupid generalisation. In dance music there is a whole culture of unknown music - promos, white labels, dub plates, exclusives, secret weapons, re-edits... Most of the time I go out, I don't recognise a single track being played. At a pop, metal, indie, hip-hop, funk, soul or disco night the crowd probably recognise 90% of the tracks. It's a bit of a ridiculous idea that you can't be shown any new music or taken on a journey to new places in a club, that a club entirely exists to replay tracks you all know so everyone can sing along in beer-y circles. |
