Sorry this track's a bit rushed, but I hope you enjoy! Any comments, please post; I've only started using compressors, so I'd like some tips on where to use them, too!

Hey Rokov,
For a beginner, I believe you did a good job. I know alot (including myself) who never completed tracks all the way when they first started, so that is very good habit to pick up.
The song itself is bit generic, repetitive (I guess as melodic trance should be). The instruments were bland for me. This song in my opinion would best be suited for video games, if you want this to go to the clubs or the radio, then a lot of work is still needed. I listened to your other track Pump it Hardcore and it seems to be very similiar melodies with slight changes.
Since this track was rushed and also because your other track sounds a bit more complete, I expect some more content to be added to it :) It would be nice to hear a bit more change in the song. I know it should be repetitive, but adding subtleties, FX, and subliminal sounds is a must to keep the listener interested. Add subtle modulation to some sounds such as the hats with a filter, and look into using sidechaining.
Sorry I can't really provide information mixing wise, still learning about the art myself and don't have the best setup for accurate listening. I think the bass and the kick are conflicting with each other though, the kick loses its clarity throughout the track through my speakers.
Let us know when you do some more changes, I think you can do alot with this with some more finishing touches, keep up the good work. |
