what light on the dust??? it was Dusty Monday to Wed. With white out conditions on the playa. Then it was fine till Sunday at temple burn.
The best advice is to prepare for everything! Sun, heat, dust, wind and cold. This year was A LOT colder then the last!

umm if im not mistaken, this was the last year of burning man. i read an article about 2 weeks prior to the event from the founder of burning man, saying this would be the last year because of the incredible run burning man has had, and how hes very sad and upset about the # of tickets bought that were being scalped at outrageously high costs, which was never the intent of this festival. for people to buy tickets and then sell at huge profits.
Scalpers bring down our event - 2011 the final burn?

According to The Shroom, "Black Rock City's Least Best Newspaper", Harvey was quoted today that 2011 will be the last year for Burning Man. Scalping tickets was cited as one of the reasons. The event was created not for others to profit from, but for everyone to come together and celebrate and participate in a one of a kind event. Capitalism has finally caught up with our beloved event and has now destroyed it. Scalpers suck!!! Period!
Excerpt from the article:
When pressed for the reasons behind the abrupt end to the iconic festival it was Harvey’s turn to be silent. Clearly stifling tears, he finally mustered up the ability to provide some answers. “We never intended that Burning Man would run forever, but we had hoped to go out a bit differently than this. It just sort of all came together as things often do on the Playa,” he said. Harvey continued, “When we realized we’d actually sell out this year I had an inkling this was the end. When it was clear demand would outstrip supply and market forces came to bear I knew that there was a strong possibility people would abandon the ethos of the event and turn to profiteering by scalping tickets, offering tourist packages and other practices we’ve been opposed to since the beginning.”

I've heard two different stories about next year...one that they will seek to expand to about 70,000 tickets, but I've also heard that the permit only allows for a smaller percentage increase each year to limit growth. who knows?
This was our first time (and may be our only time).
We went from Wednesday night to Monday, the only mistake was staying until the Temple Burn, even with getting up at 4am to leave, we hit 3 hours of waiting to get out. The weather was as good as we could hope for, we got really lucky (I had heard it was worth before we had arrived)...my impression on the music was that I caught most of what trance there was late Wednesday night with Christopher Lawrence and Infected Mushroom. I heard way too much electro and dub, and I was told it was even worse last year! Though, I was left with the feeling that for some people, 1 week of Burning Man is the equivalent of a whole summer of Ibiza. It certainly felt that way staning in the middle of Distrikt at 7pm. I'm not sure if music trends are set at Burning Man or the reverse, but for me, I felt like an older housy crowd (at least from the sound camps I visited). In the end it wasn't about the music, the art cars, or the burns, but just hanging out with my friends that I'll really remember.
