I know a lot of people that already told me (while in my car): "Pouah, wtf is this music. I don't understand how you can listen to that techno (it was puuure trance btw) put some top 40 instead blablabla" Guess what? They are going.
Those people don't care that much about the music, they care about was is cool.
Trance isn't cool. REAL house isn't cool.
We, real music lovers, don't care about what is considered cool.
The morale is: don't try to understand them, their brain doesn't work the same way. |

With his new sound he's attracting a lot of non-EDM fans because of the heavy synths and dubstep. Going thru my FB I can count like 20 people that "like" rock music exclusively but also "like" Deadmau5. You can't hate on people who like his stuff, he's very talented.. people who like his stuff don't take music (especially dance music) as seriously as we do, so no reason to bash his fans IMO.
Not gonna lie I used to like him, and still like a few of his tracks but saw him at Lollapalooza and his set was pretty boring. Light show makes it more interesting though.
4 shows at Metropolis is rediculous, but I can't hate on him for it. He could probably have done the Bell Center ampitheater at that point. |
I was a huge fan of tracks like Faxing Berlin and Not Exactly. Pretty much hated everything including Random Album Title and everything after that. Brasil is a nice track too but very, very simple. Arguru and a couple of his remixes in 2007/8 were also pretty good.
But anyway, the thing is you really can't look at a Deadmau5 show like you would any other DJ. He's not a DJ, and the performance is not really set up like he is one. You guys should check out his new stage lighting/FX rig, it's pretty incredible. |

ive never heard of any DJ playing 4 nights in a row... this guy thinks hes a diva or celine dion or something. even tiesto or david guetta for that matter have never pulled that off (not because they cant, im pretty sure they can). so full of himself the little rat. in all the years that ive been going out, both of his gigs that i attended are by FAR #1 and #2 worst fkn sets ive ever heard, by miles. #1 @ stereo #2 @ bal en blanc. |
the demand dictated the number of shows. hate the guy or not, he is bankable. |

My friend and I had a conversation about this a few weeks ago. I pretty much came to the conclusion that most people don't actually like "music". They like "songs" and singing along to them. Take the entire top 40 chart, strip it of all the vocals and nobody that currently listens would continue to do so. |

Now what about the BS he says about him getting very, very little of that? |

pay a manager, agent, taxes, label, expenses, etc = not as much as what is published |

maybe his final take home pay after the expenses on his side make that fee smaller...maybe you don't play 4 shows in a row (almost all sold out.) unless the fee you are deducting from is pretty substantial within itself to have lots of take home left.

| I'm always the first one to say that DJs are performers and that the brand and image is often more important than the content if you want to make it big...but I am honnestly wondering how the Deadmau5 package manages to be that hot. Not trying to hate or turn this into a bashing thread, i'm pretty much indifferent...i just can't understand what this guy has done to pull almost as many people as Daft Punk. |
