Who is really going to sell heroin, cocaine, and meth from a store?

Just asking...

Well I highly doubt that will happen, I'm sure those could only be obtained via prescription from a doctor, as an over-the-counter type thing. However, the market for marijuana is enormous and could create an enormous amount of revenue for the US.

You mean before there were incredible stigmas associated with its sale and consumption? Well, yeah.

Right, and all the jobs that are lost can be re-created through means of production facilities, quality control, and retail.

I should have clarified that it's not a legitimate problem I was pointing out as much as I was speaking to the reason so much political pressure exists to keep them illegal. The California Correctional Peace Officers Association, for instance, was a major contributor to California's 3 Strikes legislation and private prisons are also major beneficiaries when it comes to handling the overpopulation caused by the war on drugs. It's groups like these which subvert the political will to legalize drugs in spite of the negative impact prohibition has on society.

The problem is that a lot of companies are afraid of losing their profits. Cotton industry along with the paper factories mostly, and of course tobacco.
Hemp is stronger and much cheaper than cotton and normal paper iirc.
