I'm a fan of mash up's to be honest. I think it helps you stand out from the regular people who just play 10 tracks pretty much fell length whilst standing round with nothing to do waiting for the next moment to mix another track.

I recently played at Digital in Newcastle (UK) and managed to do a couple of live mash up's that worked a treat. The tracks I used were....

Alex Kenji - What's up and Truelove - Rock the Casbah

&

Arno Cost - Lise mashed up with Cirez D On off

I just think it's something different for the crowd to get involved with, throw them off course and keep them interested.

I've used ableton a few times to try and do them but I definetely prefer doing them live.

It's a good start, and a good idea. I'd also smash some of the g6 vocals on there, some breaks, glitch edits, and some coldplay. Hmm... actually, I'd also add ke$ha too.Maybe lady gaga. Although then it's more of a glitch song.

Now that I think of that we could throw in a glitchcore solo in the middle. Hmmm...

Hahaha. I don't really listen to mash-ups, I am not too fond of them. My friends often play mashups when we hang out, your mashup (djmyavatarcausessiezuresryan's that is) sounds like it's the same quality.

see that is the perfect example of musical retards trying to do mashups. Clashing keys is provably something you might want to address djRyan. Awful. PRetty much a point in case that any musical tool in the hands of a tool will result in some god awful .

i like this one.

i think there is a better mix out there but the two work great.
THe power of the mashup is putting a similar stamp on something someone might not particularly be prone to like. Especially in EDM which alot of people hate.

Here is another one. Just one note that should of been changed but ohwell. THe fact that the note wasn't adjusted just shows you how tone deaf people making these things are. Kinda scary.

But its the type of thing you just play for 1 verse then go to the main tune.

great combo here. As a dj, you could not get away with the original even if it is good but just by adding biggie , you have made this club music.

another one.

the way i see it , mashups are just lazy remixes for which you will never get cleared so you just do a half assed mix that only sounds good loud in a club full of drunks. The worst is when they aren't even using stems and the mixdown is always just awful but again , you can't tell in a club.

I remember that once I was wondering if I'm able to do a mashup. I needed to find the tracks which worked together nicely, also I wanted to somehow improve the track, not make it worse.

2-3 hours was enough to create first mashup
Cosmic Gate vs Sander van Dien - Not Enough Greece (Gregory Mashup) by Greeg

to be honest, creating mashup is ... easy and actually boring. I mean, 99 % of mashups are just lazy crappy "mixes", while there are only few gems that really improve somehow the track.

I mean, it ok, if you just use your mashups when DJing but other than this (doing mashup just for the purpose of doing mashup) it seems to be some "cheap, lazy remix"

It's not even a mash-up it's a total remake with new session singers and all, made to sound like a "cool" mashup..... strictly peaking it's closer to a "cover" than a "mashup"

I don't like them either, but I know a lot of people do. IMO, if it would've not been for that Robin S vs Be mashup that Laiback Luke & Steve Angello made, they would've not been as big as they are now. That mashup put them on the mainstream map as it got played all over the radio and they even made a video of it.

A friend of mine used to make a lot of mashups and a lot DJ's played them. Now, he's touring internationally in major part thanks to them.

you should have made this a tripple up with "like a G6" mashups are too easy... "now i'm feeling so fly, with my bass down low...."

Or "with my bass like a G6" really too ing easy...
