Hi there! Can someone please explain the differences (and pros and cons) of Serato Scratch Live with SL4 vs Native Instruments' Traktor Scratch Pro 2 (with Traktor Audio 10)? An unbiased review would be most helpful. :)
Thanks,

| kind of hard to say, because somebody that owns one probably doesn't own the other. I think it comes down to personal preference. also I think TSP2 has more bells and whistles. |

| hmm, interesting. i figured there must be some advantages/disadvantages... also, there is a "significant" price differential. |

| I owned both but i had the SL1 and it was alright but compared to the audio 8 it was . NI rely heavily on their converters and i don't know where rane gets them from so yeah thats my 2 cents |

I own both SL1 & Audio 8.
They're both really good, but I never use Traktor live because almost all the venues that play at have Serato installed. Plus, I also do video mixing which is not available on Traktor. What everyone else said is correct, specially what Calv said. If you're going the controller route, Traktor is king.

I went with SL3 because of Ableton integration but if I wanted just a program by itself, probably would have gone with Traktor as it has more in built.
They are both rock solid these days as far as I'm aware. |

Thanks everyone for your input!
I decided to go with Traktor Scratch Pro 2 with the Audio 10 as I already have a NI X1 controller and don't use Ableton or video (and I'd been using Traktor Pro 2 beforehand so I'm fairly familiar with the software).
I appreciate the feedback!

Keith,
Just so you know, there are some issues with the Audio 10 that are worth considering. I don't want to diss the product, as I recently bought it and have by now managed to get it working 100% smoothly, but I did encounter some problems along the way. I advise you to check out the NI forums before you make the purchase. |

Adam,
Already made the purchase... could you tell me which problems in particular? Think I already threw out the box too :( |

well there are the latency issues, and the fact that one of the outputs on channel B might be faulty. I was also playing at my friend's house on Sunday and he has CDJ-800's MK2 and when I had it hooked up to channel A it wasn't working right at all.
Have you started using it yet? |

nope...i quickly set it up last weekend (i wasn't able to get the A to C, B to D channel swap to work in Traktor) but eventually got things working. i played maybe two tracks in traktor since then, though... i will try it this weekend.
what do i need to be looking out for? is there a test i can run? i am using CDJ-2000s with a Xone 92 mixer... no vinyl. |
