i've been thinking about this - are there any forums (by that i mean with the category list and list of threads layout) that allow asychnronous posting of content?
imagine how crazy it'd be if threads on forums like this were updated in real time like something halfway between a group chat conversation and what most 'forums' are currently.
such an outdated mode of communication. |

| Forums are actually my favorite, in terms of discussion communities. Blogs are too hierarchical, Twitter and chat stuff too insubstantial. Not to say that those can't be fun, but I prefer forums overall. Real-time updating of posts would be convenient, but on the other hand it might encourage snappy comebacks over more complex discussions. |

You mean like the conversation you, I, and a host of other current/regular c0rians have been engaged in this morning?
Yeah. I had largely the same thought. See you back over there. |

Actually, Facebook is not a bad idea. It's possible to create groups and invite people to them. |

this and this :p
also that huge CoR conversation on facebook a while back made me think of it.
@TastyboA - yeah but honestly how often are the conversations on forums like this actually substantive? i don't know I feel like the world's a-changin'.
only problem with facebook is i like separating this stuff from my 'real' life at least in the TA->RL direction. and alts. alts would be missed on FB.
I'm thinking something like disaspora might replace internet forums. We need a new decentralized successor to usenet and stuff that leverages contemporary web technology. |

| +1 to Brian's comment. I love forums. So much better than chatrooms and the like. |
