A musical ambassador since infancy, a professional DJ since his early teens, a veteran of acid house and a champion of techno, Carl Cox puts out a love of his work that is infectious. When he's in the DJ booth and you can't mistake his ecstatic energy, dripping with sweat as his head bobs up and down to the beat, his hands pumping the air whenever they're not manipulating the decks, his body swaying back and forth, frequently taking to the mic to share word on the latest underground tune he's about to smash. You name it, Carl's been there and done it, but he's never lost sight of the point of it: playing music for the people by breaking tunes, spreading love, while celebrating his life.
In 1977, aged 15, Carl got a set of turntables and began working as a mobile DJ. Disco was the first music that captivated him but by the early 80s Cox had moved on to playing the same music as other young London DJs - rare groove, New York hip-hop and electro. He was perfectly placed to hear Chicago house music in its earliest forms, and epic 'Acid Trax' records that shaped his early DJ sound.
The next step was to make music, and Cox retreated into the club world that had nurtured him and embraced the underground sounds of techno. "Techno drives home somewhere," he says of his core music. "It takes you to an element of surprise, not knowing where you're going. It's scary but wonderful at the same time." After forming Intec Records in 1999, the label went on to score a series of underground techno hits and has well over50 releases to date. Over the years he has had several hits and full length albums displaying his broad range of electronic music styles and interests.

In 2006 Carl's Space night won ‘Best Ibiza Club Night’ at the Ibiza DJ awards. When not in Ibiza Carl headlines venues and festivals across the USA, South America, Europe, Far East, as well as his current reside Australia. In addition to touring to play for his millions of fans, Carl’s ‘Global’ radio show has now reached well over 4 million listeners and is broadcast over 25 countries worldwide, making him one of the most important broadcasters of electronic music on the planet.
Carl's history with us in Toronto goes back to the legendary Industry nightclub and 'Connected' and Rave sets.We are excited to 'TAKE IT BACK' with him on the magical day of Friday11 11 11. Remembrance Day. Toronto do you remember? Are you ready for another ride on the Merry Go Around?

The Big Boss was very disappointed that he was unable to attend his birthday party with Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos due to all flights in NYC being grounded because of a massive snowstorm that hit the east coast. Entertainment district:
Gardiner expressway West to 427 north, to 401 east or DVP to 401 west. Exit at Keele North to Sheppard Avenue and turn right. west onto Sheppard Avenue and proceed to John Drury Drive (the entrance to the park) and turn left into Downsveiw park. At the three-way stop turn left onto Carl Hall Road. Entrance to Studio #3 will be visible,enjoy the free parking in front the Downsview Park market. Please do not drink and drive.
15-20 minutes travel time.
Mid-town:
Keele or Allen Road North (use Lawrence exit) to Sheppard Avenue turn west onto Sheppard Avenue and proceed to John Drury Drive (the entrance to the park) and turn left into Downsveiw park. At the three-way stop turn left onto Carl Hall Road. Look for the bright light for entrance to Studio #3 and enjoy the free parking in front the Downsview Park market.
10-15 minutes travel time. Please do not drink and drive.
TTC
Fastest and most cost effective way. Travel north on the Spadina/University line to Downsview station. 15-20 minutes from bloor.
Downsview TTC bus to venue:
TTC #84 Sheppard west or #106 York University North bus. Both drop you 150 metres from the venue at John Drury drive .
TAXI
All major taxi companies will be alerted of the large scale event at Downsview to ensure cars for people going home. Taxi service from the entertainment district is around $30-35 taking Gardiner or Allen. Midtown $15 taking the Allen Expressway to Sheppard. Get your people organized with groups of 4.
