Hey
I am wondering about buying a good and comfortable chair for computer, I start getting sick when I want to produce and after 30 min I just cant stand sitting that long on what I've got now :/
Any help would be appreciate! How do you all deal with long sessions?

i use a wooden piano bench. My firm round ass provides all the support i need. I alexander the so lombard support is no issue. My buttocks is quite the specimen. Let me find some pictures.

I would go for office chair Look on some websites that specialize in that ie back pain and what not and spend the money. Unless you have a nice tight firm round bum.

Also mind your monitors ( the ones you look at) they should be positioned so that you are looking slightly down. THis will make your back aligned and in a straight line. If you are looking up, you are ing your back up. A nice round supple fanny won't help with that.

there are a few things, depending on what's going on with your back. So one thing is to have a computer chair that supports you where you need support - this is very much based on your body and how it works.

But at the same time, you need to take a look at your posture while you are sitting, or a new chair isn't going to do . Like leaning back? not such a good thing if your back is starting to on you.

I work in software and have basic been wrestling backpain for a long time now. Via physical therapists, new chairs, and all that. Honestly, sitting on a keyboard bench is a great thing, but if your muscles are already too weak to support you doing that for a prolongued period of time its not going to work out very well. Here are some general bullet points for dealing with computer work and backpain:

* The right chair will help, but its got to be adjustable to you. These chairs can be god damn expensive and it can be difficult to find the right one. I only have a good one because i cycled through 5 chairs at work and then bought that one at home.

* Get up and walk around at least once an hour for like 5 minutes. The body is good at moving, not staying still.

* Stretch and exercise daily. A lot of backpain I experience anyway has to do with muscles being too tight and other muscles being too weak. My biggest issues are things like my chest and abs being too tight (this happens when you sit, esp if you hunch over).

* Consider what you can do to ergo your work environment *and* workflow. For example, are you looking up or down or at the corners of your monitor a lot? All of these movements, even if small, add up and you end up with a repetitive stress injury (software engineers get this *all* the time). Adjust your monitor so that you are looking around the center without effort. Consider moving whatever little plugins you are working on to the center of your screen while you are working on them. Stuff like that.

* Get inventive with how you work. Take a synth and put it on a high counter top so you can stand while you mess with it. Then take a break from producing to work on your sound design a bit. Go for a walk when you want to study your musical inspiration.

The fact that you are experiencing pain means something's not working. And I will tell you now, it only gets worse and its tough as hell to reverse. Take it seriously and change your lifestyle and working habits now.

I'm totally serious. Bolt that to a standard swivel base. I had one once as an office chair and will have another soon. Had a pair in one of my off-road old trucks. Last chair you'll ever want to have. They are off-road racing seats and not cheap but they have support and comfort you cannot imagine unless you ever sat in one getting pounded for a few hundred miles in Baja (and I have).

Exercise worked for me.

You see when DJs mix they are standing up and having a load of fun, often dancing at the same time.

It's probably better to have a studio setup where you can do the same, specially if what you are making is dance music.

Yeah, right. The cheapest version of that chair is $700, and like $3k for the nicest one.

I'm beginning to actually believe that L4C is my alt as I too sit on a bench stool (no back). I have my monitors and keyboard set up so that I have to sit up straight to work which is great for my posture.
