yup. so good you don't even need to listen to the process. Put 2 in serial, low threshold and you will overcome the 0 dB barrier in a rather transparent manner. I aim for + 1.5 dBfs. massive doesn't even describe the sound. Like my speakers are about to blow up. To be honest, the Ultra is better than the multi. Apparently they are working on a ultra multi which would be awesome. Basically, go for any L series but the higher the number the better the mastering. So L2 is ok, L3 even better, L316. that is 112 times better. Sorry , i don't work for waves, they just changed the way i mix. I went from this
to this
In fact it doesn't show the positive dBs which add warmth and bass drive. massive in clubs. |

They're both limiters which is only a small part of mastering (albeit having the most effect). A proper mastering studio will apply effects such as EQ and compression to shape your master the best it can be first. Simply slapping on your own L3 will only hinder that process, and may even make it sound worse depending on the settings you choose. Check out the L316 though - it's the latest advancement from Waves in multi-band limiting, but tread cautiously and only use it for a quick fix when it's absolutely needed (to test a rough version of the master out, for instance). Limiting should be the last step in the mastering chain and can easily ruin everything. |

| If you're gonna slap some some on it and call it a day, use the L316. |

Sorry, I forget to say that naturally I FIRST try to do my own "mastering" to the song.
But my mastering skills are not good... I try to control the volumes of tracks (tracks= bass, kicks, leads, vocals, what ever is going in the song). I use some EQin in some places...
I use Reason to make songs.
And after that, I was thinking to use L3-LL Multimaximizer or L3 UltraMaximizer to mastering the final result. Since I don't think my mastering is so good, so I need some extra help (and I am afraid the mastering studios are bit expensive). :( |
