good stuff with Kevin... I went to John Aquaviva, had a blast...but wanted to bring something to the attention of the promoters running the night... which to my knowledge is a new night at a new venue. I got to the club for John at 1055pm. When i asked the blonde door girl who do I pay? She pointed to the bouncer at the door. He informed me it was a $25 cover. I asked the blonde, I thought it was $10, she said the $10 list closed at 11pm. I told her it's 11pm now showing her my phone clock, and she replied exactly...list is closed and it's $25. Point being it took me two minutes to figure out who to pay... I'm not hard up for $15 by all means. I gladly paid, but it put a bad taste in my mouth about the club and the staff, and to boot the place was near empty when I walked in with my friend. I've been to a few clubs in my life on new nights to say the least... this wasn't a great start. First impressions at new places on new nights are crucial... and this wasn't a good impression. There's a lot of options in LA on a Friday night... just wanted to give the promoters a heads up cause I dig what you're doing talent wise.

actually, from experience, the Friday after Halloween is always the slowest for us for the past 5 years, we asked around and we actually had the most number of people compared tot he other clubs. but yes, we expected to be a bit slower, as much as we expect the week after Thanksgiving to be slower too. but thanks for your comments, and we will work to improve the process at the door as you have pointed out.

btw, we are not a new night, we were doing King King on Fridays for 5 years =)

Hi Jmaze! first off, I'd like to thank you for coming out last Friday for John Acquaviva. And as Alan already pointed out, we will take into consideration your comments.

As this is our 5th year, moving from King King, the new venue Spot 5750 is a different beast altogether. As that was our 3rd night, we are still in the process of working out kinks with management in order for music lovers to have the best experience. Quality line-ups have already been booked. Venue has a full bar and food menu served by HOT! HOT! HOT! bartenders that also make stiff drinks. To be honest, drinks aren't the only things they make stiff ;) Now, we're just focusing on the entry process, sound and ambience of the place.

Hope to see you and your friends every Friday!

I appreciate the response, thanks. And good luck with your night. I'm a fan!

RESIDENT ADVISOR recommends INCOGNITO THIS Friday 11.11.11

In terms of style, Detroit pioneer Kevin Saunderson and deep house weirdo DJ Koze are kind of an odd match, but it's hard to argue with a party that has both of them on the bill. They'll share the decks on Friday at Spot 5750 thanks to Incognito.
