Alright let see if this not only me but i've been listening to some old ASOT episodes and holy was the music amazinggg. I feel like some of this old stuff can be brought back today cuz it sounds sooo good it really doesn't have that old sound!! and it doesn't necessarily have to be remixed, original sounds just right.

episodes like...

288
264
265
269
254
270
271

i mean i know they are old but holy was the music amazing!! i can't seem to attach to any new stuff going around now a days.

yea same here i stopped listening to ASOT for 2 years now. Just isn't the same as before. Thats why i just go back to the older episodes, they have solid sets. I gotta get like 100-200 any where good to download, like in a bundle???

currently listening to ASOT 182 (yearmix) amazinggggg!!!!!!
martinezequiel
it really sux tho, you can really hear the quality of these sets back than now its all .

i wonder when this cycle of good music will be back around.

I have all of them up to 250. After that I said it. The best stuff is definitely below 200

ASOT is still not TERRIBLE, but it's nowhere near the better podcasts these days.

The ASOT parties are usually great, though.

I think it's episode 24 that has a live recording from Paul van Dyk - Ministry at Knebworth 2001. Phenomenal set IMO.

It's funny because you mentioned "old sound". I feel like trance from 200-2004 was so far ahead of its time. The stuff getting big now is what's old sounding. The Avicii and SHM sound all the guys are using sounds like big-room Jersey fistpump house from the 90s. And a lot of the big trance tunes have dumbed down to dumb Eurotrance tunes from back in the day. Just a musical observation, but I think those days from the early 2000s, was so ahead of its time; producers are currently scaling back, skill-wise. The obvious Ableton preset effects are being used, but not really the sound design and more difficult things that were once done..
