EQ high mid and low cuts!

Sorry maybe a silly question. I was just thinking about it as I am in the process of really trying to understand or figure best when to use.

Is there any rules that apply to High Mid and Low Eq cuts, for example when using the Eq in Logic?

Just Curious, as I tend to be using Low more so and cutting the low and highs i guess and boosting the mids or the crux of that sound!

It is all by ear really. Lower or peak the needed freq. in order to make the sound sit where is should be in the track. You don't want to have all of your sounds with the same EQ curve because you will likely start to cancel out or step over your other sounds with-in those freq. ranges.

aha yes that makes perfect sense. It is what I have been doing some extent, but I have found that I am doing low and high cuts only to the point where there is no hearable difference, just to keep it tidy. And, i boost where needed.

Thanks,
