Funny you say that, I remember hearing this song when I was 16 on a shuttle bus to the ski slopes (Park City -good time).
It took me 2 years to ID the track. It came on a web radio channel my first year of college and some Russian chick knew the track (Then Napster+Me = Tranceaddict). I still haven't found an American who can name that toon! WTB a visa. |

Ok, here we go, I've thought long and hard and here is my 12 most important influences on the trance scene. I've not included anything post 2000 because I wanted to concentrate on the origins. Feel free to tear apart.

Okay then. I don't think there are a lot of sayings german and dutch speaking share besides some english words. When germans say "Das ist der Hammer" they mean something is really cool. Often indicating a track (or an old track) and not a genre or old stuff in general.
For the dutch "hamer" is just a tool and doesn't have another meaning.
Germans can correct me, but it would really surprise me if I'm wrong.

Das ist der Hammer is a colloquial expression. It can be used to express both positive and negative surprise, disbelief or the sense thatsomething is brilliant or wicked. In this case I would translate Das ist der Hammer as that is brilliant (adjective hammermäßig)
Du bist der absolute Hammer! = You are totally awesome!

For sure, and you can also add a load of Belgian ones.
Maybe also add a list for bigger events like Mayday, Love Parade and Sensation as they certainly had influence too. |

I did think about that but wanted to just sum it up in one list. I intended to just have 10 but couldn't get under 12. I guess any list could be endless and be endlessly argued about. |
