you could make the argument that this process has been happening since the 20th century. I mean as far as musical merit, the original punk wave is by far the music with the least amount of merit but in some twisted way , the fact that is was so bad had some pretty important implications.
it would take one 400$ , and 10 hours to learn enough to play punk music. That is pretty easy.

I would like to come on here and bash punk music too. Sorry, but I don't respect it. I also don't respect the message. I respect some post-punk, but punk music is responsible for teenagers and even adults who think they rebel when they actually reinforce the status quo by buying Green Day or Rage Against the Machine. I don't even know if RATM is punk, but it has guys who went to Harvard who look like they don't shower so it's the same to me.
At least underground adult contemporary aka indie is decent and that takes skill to make imo. But even if it's underground, it's still adult contemporary and has too many people whistling.
Ok, enough trolling from me.
As for the question, I dare all of you to make a good song that at least a few DJs will support 100% right now and post it in this thread. It's still hard to make a good song even if you have all the phat plugins.

dude , rage against the machine are awesome. And nobody in that band went to harvard. And I would suffer a teenage punk 10 x over than some douche electro tweaker.
honestly, some people with their ing electronic gaylord music , well this music makes your blips and bloops sound like a 6 guy east coast interracial glory hole. At least according to Cryophonic.
meriter
morello is a harvard graduate

on topic, the only thing that really bothers me is how easy it is to fix up vocal performances in the studio, so when you go see a band live it's generally disappointing because you've familiarized yourself with the material. Like these people can't even sing their own songs.. getting really tired of that. It's better if you represent yourself honestly and let people adjust to that instead of setting this overblown expectation and not being able to deliver.
Looney4Clooney
my bad . Either way , i don't see how being smart is a con. And morello wasn't the dreadlock dropping ese's and razas guy so I still don't get the argument. And the mexican columbian latina whatever you is arguably one of the best mc's on the planet.

You seem to have an Alaska-sized chip on your shoulder about deciding whether you will like something based on which other groups of people liked it first (not just in this thread, either).
Why? Can't you enjoy a type of music even if you don't get along much with some of the other people who like it?

TBH i'm just trolling somewhat and you shouldn't take a guy who loves Korean girl band music seriously when it comes to music. Also, I can't enjoy a type of music from who's subculture i dont like because I personally can't relate to being a part of mainstream culture while singing against mainstream culture. I also cannot stand it aesthetically which is the #1 reason. I personally can't stand PLUR culture because I think it contradicts itself, but I have a collection of unicorn trance tracks.
Lastly, I like to make commentaries on culture. Anti-mainstream is so mainstream that being mainstream isn't mainstream so it's cool, and i'm cooler than all of you.
That said, I personally love RATM's style and their knockoffs.
And MFB, Tom Morello was the guy who went to Harvard!
