| start exercising. eat right . obvious but that is your first line of defense. If that doesn't work, a nice mix of opioids , benzos , caffeine and amphetamines. |

Sleep. I'm not joking.
I just got new mattress and moved to a quieter house it's made all the difference in the world. On those rare days off, I actually wake up naturally, like when my body tells me it's had enough sleep, not to the sound of traffic or the cvnts next door.
I can't tell you how much of a difference 8-10 hours deep sleep makes to productivity in all aspects of life.
Another thing, work out. a good hour of weights and cardio (or L4C's tai-bo & jazzercise calsses) does a lot to level you out. Doing weights or intense sports is also akin to taking heroin on a metabolic level, so if that doesn't chill you out then nothing will. |

| I will add a big +1 for exercise and sleep, but I'll add that it won't necessarily keep you from having ruts. I've been doing cardio nearly daily for over 3 years (went to gym nearly 400 days straight at one point), but still have times when I just can't focus or come up with any ideas. At some point, you just have to know when it's time to step away from it for a few days or weeks. |

FWIW-IMO-ETC...Read. An actual book, not something on the net. Try something non-technical and fantasy oriented. Pick a subject that interests you and get lost in paper for a few days. Basically, give the creative side of the brain a rest and just enjoy some good and QUIET fun. Quiet being the key factor.
Doesn't work for everyone but I find getting absorbed in a great story incredibly relaxing/de-stressing.
Or watch a pirated vid of L4C doing Jazzercize...but that borders on porn. At least I thought so. |
