ing hell, can't believe it happened a-bloody-gain! I hate to come back with such bad news, but...
Last year, as some of you probably remember, a friend of mine was murdered by her twisted ex... and now, a jilted ex ran over Kaoru's cousin [news in moonspeak, can't find it in English]. When I first read it, I was horrified, but had no idea I knew the people involved until Kaoru phoned me later tonight and I joined the dots. What the is wrong with these dimwits? If the pain hurts so much you can't take it any longer, then go get professional help, learn German and read Goethe before off'ing yourself, or just get over it like everyone else! What the hell is the point in killing/maiming (as happened in this case)/injuring someone just because they don't want to go out with you? And the girl is so awesome! I can't believe it happened to someone as cheerful and hard-working like her!
This one didn't commit suicide afterwards, and has already been arrested by the police. We don't have much information about it because she's in a foreign country (they're both Brazilian) and she's afraid to tell the family (a friend told another cousin). All I know is that she had her leg amputated. As for me, I've already gone all existential with my mates and Kaoru herself, who's still shocked by the news. I'd share it on Facebook, as usual, but I was asked to remove the news from FB as it may shock some relatives who still don't know about it (long story). As some TA's had already seen it there, I reckoned I'd post this here hoping someone knows what the hell is going on in the mind of a bastard like that...
This time around, I don't have the slightest idea.

He felt that he was making her pay for hurting him, I imagine.
Some people think they have the right to respond to emotional pain with physical assault. Same ballpark as guys who beat their girlfriends or wives for "disrespect." I would not be surprised if he had done just that before. |

Unfortunately, this is nothing new. Sounds like another 'run-of-the-mill ed up murder for not reason' incident.
So many Japanese are emotionally stunted pressure cookers waiting to explode. I read about these kinds of things on a daily basis.
And to top it all, the keystones are on the case. Little hope. |

Maybe, Brian. It does seem to caused by a need to make things even: the guy that murdered my friend point-blank thought my friend had "leeched" him during the relationship (go figure)... though in this case I'd be hard-pressed to find a similar reason, as the guy had apparently moved into her apartment a couple of weeks prior to the incident. _Ocean_ also has a point: Brazilians there often have a tough time and are usually very lonely, so I wouldn't be surprised to find out this only made things worse. Although, according to some recent comments, the guy had already been in prison before... so the guy is definitely not exactly the most balanced individual that has ever existed. We wonder if she knew about his past...
Kaoru's brother was telling us about the Japanese legal system. Whoever foots the bill (and it's likely the victim will be the one doing it) will have to pay not just for the amputation and the time she's spending in the hospital, but she also for the chopper that took her from the small town she lives to
the largest city in the region (so here's your answer, Ocean). We're just hoping for the best, really.
