Yo. what are your thoughts on this new sound taking over the clubs?
MSZ
to be honest i dont go clubbing much anymore, if people are happy then thats the way she goes. what my personal preferences and ideologies dont really matter here, but i prefer a different kind of energy i will tell you this. i will also continue to troll hipsters.

i love the internet. : )

the genres are so ed up now.. it doesn't help matters that Beatport is dictating the terms (based on how they think it'll sell best)

I know what you're saying, but MJC is closer to "deep house" than anything else imo, especially if you're classifying it for a regular joe...

and beatport is all about regular joe's

WELL the label can suggest the genre, and usually Beatport runs with that suggestion, but sometimes they override it...

well it's definitely a new era, whether it's good or bad is up for debate

My top 4 this year

honourary mention to Volta Cab - Welcome to Downtown (Dana Bergquist and Peder G remix)

I actually like quite a bit of the stuff, but that is because I liked the stuff from 15 years ago that much of this stuff is copying..it just happens to be slower.

Other than ones mentioned:

Robin Ordell - The Show LEFT022 by Robin Ordell

Endgame
I love the "best tunes" threads, really cool to see what everyone's been really grooving to all year!
This year's been a fantastic combination of banging funk and as Jeff put it, Sleaze. Maceo Plex was killer this year, 'Can't Leave You' and 'Falling' were on repeat for weeks. Also really loved the funky, high-energy disco-house styles of Gramophonedzie, Stefano Noferini and Crazibiza.

This one just has funksauce all over it. Huge tune.
Arthur Baker Feat. Jimmy Somerville - I Believe In Love (Joris Voorn Vocal Mix)

Alex Venturra ft. Chappell - So Free (Klement Bonelli Dub)
Love this mix, sucks you right in and really has some awesome progression. The soundcloud clip doesn't really do it justice.
ALEX VENTURRA ft. Chappell - So Free (Klement Bonelli Dub) by selectazagency

I really like this remake. A bit heavy on vocals, but love the tribute.
A-Studio ft Polina Griffith - SOS (Skylark Remix) was one of the first house records I really fell in love with.

I thought this one was really underrated, found myself throwing this one on in the car all the time.
Chris Lake - Secrets in the Dark (Original Mix)

Disco/Funk/Banging energetic sets were on my radar all year. It's the kind of stuff I've trying to work on in the studio all year as well, so I suppose it was my natural musical path.
Joey Negro - Feel It (Alex Kenji Remix)

In the same funky, energetic vein - Gramophonedzie and Joey Negro teaming up for this beauty. Love the breakdown.
Joey Negro & Gramophonedzie - No Sugar (Club Mix)
