I failed miserably in everything I attempted this year.. next year.. rinse and repeat...

Maybe my goals were so obtainable that I just didn't try hard enough because I haven't met any of them. I think I need to set completely unrealistic goals.

2011 was a good year, completed my studio, had customers and paid taxes, 2012 the trend will hopefully continue

Actually quite inspiring reading this thread, interesting to see the various goals and achievements.

This year..
Finished more tunes in one year than ever before.
Settled on a select few plugins and synths and focussed on learning them in greater depth.
Settled on a hardware setup and stifled gear aquisition for the time being.
Spent a lot more time trying to get things sounding more professional with some decent improvements.
Allocated more time to studying sound design and manipulation, set a goal of using less presets and creating some sounds from scratch in every project.
Began printing out manuals and guides and reading them outside of studio time.

Next year..
Higher turnover of tracks, higher quality of production. More time in the studio, less ing around!

by years end to have at least one production worthy of local radio / dj play or ideally small label release.

2011

Told myself I'd write a track a week for an entire year.
Wrote 46 records by August 10th.
Landed a dream job in the music business Sept 7th, haven't written a track since.

The good news, I have an album about 80% done, I just don't know if I'm ever going to finish it.

2012

big in mystery atm

My only tangible goal is to somehow end up in Miami . get together with djRyan, go bandana shopping for the brostepping that will happen later that night. Finish the night with a nightcap rape. Maybe a black girl.

hmmm didn't participate last year but i'll give a recap and a go at laying down some 2012 goals.

2011: started producing, landed 2 'solo' tracks, although not ones i'm all that proud of (with the exception of MSZ remixing one of them, <3333)....led to me forming a collab group which has been going really well and landed a home on a small but tightly-knit and well promoted record label. 2 originals done (one still to be released), one remix released, a finished product for the a&b remix contest, and two more remixes due for release.

2012: throw down at least 2 finished solo tracks just to compare now to when i started. as for the collab stuff - finish the obsurd amount of WIP originals we have laying around. lay down our first vocal track (any recommendations for possible artists to work with anybody???). develop a sound as a group (we're all over the place atm). work better, faster.

For 2012: Finish 2 Tracks a Week.

I improved. A lot. Oh, and wrote some songs.

Think I'll do it again next year too.

don't really participate in this section much, so not much to add:

2011:
- did alot of mixing, not nearly as much as i wanted to.

2012:
- start building a synthesizer from scratch. should be fun. & it will finally be the push to enter the technical side of things in a much more detailed way than i am used to doing currently.
- start building a spring reverberator.
- produce something nice enough to share on this board.

Goals dominate my business life, so in music I like to be an aimles jellyfish drifting on a tide of sewage. Yes L4C, I'm on point with the sewage drifting, there I said afore you did.
