How did you learn about sex?

To what extent did your parents shield you from sex? How much information did they give you about it, and how early? In your upbringing, was sex something to be ashamed about, kept hush-hush, or discussed more openly?
My parents gave me the first "talk" about sex when I was in first grade. At the time, though, it meant very little to me, since I was not even curious about the subject yet. I later got the "wear a condom" talk from my dad during high school.
Those are the only two times I can remember my parents telling me anything related to sex. Otherwise it was simply not discussed. And sex education in school was basically nonexistent (Texas), so in my teen years I ended up getting most of my information through friends, rather than adults.

| my mom gave me one of those "explain sex to kids" books where they had like illustrations of all different kinds of animals ing. i was 4, and i showed it to the neighbor boys. i was such a slut. |

Wow, that's awful... didn't molestation make sex undesirable to either of you in some sense? I can't imagine how it impacts a child's (?) mind.
As for me, my parents were very open about the issue. Hell, my mum gave me a Playboy subscription when I was 13 or something. I still didn't understand most of it though (nor did I care). I remember I was 9 when I accidentally found my uncle's porn stash, and saw a girl giving a blowjob. My first reaction was to twist my head and say "Wait, that's not where it's supposed to go!" and it bothered me for years, because it made no sense whatsoever.
