What exactly is the point of a MIDI controller?!?!?! (pg. 2)

sharing my story, one month i went with a BCR2000 rotary setup for reason. i had everything labelled map nicely, it worked flawlessly, and the product was very good. but.. i decided to sell it quickly because i was not as proficient as with my mouse. i decided i really love using my mouse to control parameters :} the only thing i miss is triggering solos/mutes using it to build my track for fun.

Here's my MIDI controller. I'd love to have a better one, but the keyboard is the only thing I really need to get the job done.

i think my midi controller is over 10 years old(the keyboard).

its a midiman keystation 61, former m-audio, please tell me maudio makes same quality of stuff, they dont make even close.

i dropped this 3 times violently on hardwood floor, and its still works like when i got it(second hand from someone who had it for a few years).

Ask yourself this.. if you want to adjust your filter and resonance control at the same time, can you do this with a mouse? What about if you want to increase the volume of two, three or four tracks at once?

Just go buy one!

You can use racks in ableton to adjust several parameters with just one knob.

You can also adjust the levels of several tracks at once in ableton.

I use a midi controller for text input via Bomes midi translator. So for things like photoshop, sibelius or just assigning a button to trigger the text output "you hot man stud" when I am sending emails to djRann.

But ya , you should see me on sibelius. I do believe I am the best person on the planet at that program. Fast like that little mexican rat. Speedy Gonzalez taco or something.

Motherfu.....and here's me thinking you put love, passion and lust in to all those emails, but all along it's just been midi triggered phrases.

Would you say you're the sibelius equivalent of this guy:

I have the exact same keyboard; I finally replaced it last week with a Novation Impulse 25, mostly because I struggled to fit the 61-key anywhere in my current setup, but on top of that it had some annoying glitch where it would randomly send off midi-CCs. It was fairly subtle but extremely annoying, as I'd be tweaking some random sound and then all of a sudden a random parameter would start to change.

I use both hands so infrequently that 25 was definitely enough.

Will you two please stop talking Canadian - this is an English forum and please keep it that way so others can understand, eh.

Same goes for you Richie. I'll have Digi (that other Canadian) ban you all otherwise.
