I like my bx8a's :(

Mind you I never did much producing with them...

I own a pair of Behringer B2031As, have them matched with the B2092A 360W sub (though upon searching, it seems they don't make it any more) - close to 1000W of clear, warm sound in our basement. I use the tops and sub for DJing, and just the tops when I want the flatness required for production. Read review after review and you'll see that the B2031As are one piece of kit Behringer seems to have nailed in respect to both quality and what you get for your dollar.

Regarding the addition of the sub, having DJ'd using studio monitors alone, I always recommend getting a 2.1 setup if you're going to take the nearfield route, otherwise you'll be missing out on a lot of tasty low-end. ;)

Couple of vids from our old place (and yes, I'm showing off my setup :p):

Hahah, thanks - like I mentioned, part of my heart's always been in that city; was actually born there, and heard my first real DJs spin at Metropolis way back in the 80s...

Aside from the obvious disco ball, the lights are actually just cheap LED strings I picked up in Chinatown and ordered from eBay, about $5 - $8/ea. The ceiling projection is from a Mathmos Space Projector:

...which was a Christmas gift from my best friend. Sold the fog machine at a yard sale in the summer - was fun for a while, but it's a bit much for the basement of our new place.

Maybe for DJing but for actual music production most cheap subs are going to ruin your mix. there's a reason many of the biggest hits have been mixed on yamaha ns-10s

You missed the part above that where I said I use the sub for DJing, and disconnect it for production.

true

in my opinion there are only 3 main options for monitors to actually get serious with mixing/production otherwise youll always want to upgrade or change...

- ADAM S3A Monitors
- Mackie hr824 / hr624 for smaller rooms
- Yamaha NS10

everything else is just inbetween... there are some decent up and comers but if i could have all three of the above listed, my mixdowns would be as tight as a baby's everytime!

if you are going to buy KRKs, just wait, suck it up and buy mackies.. youll always be able to sell them for just less than you bought them anyways might as well invest properly

also i wouldnt even bother using a dj setup with my monitors for any party on the off chance some crazy spike happens and blows something

lesson learned :(

ps. hahahah baby's

Too much controversy and drama with the NS10. Still, i hear it improves your producing/Djing

Passskal
Can we all agree that with Mackie you pay a bit extra for the brand?

I didint even have to read the second line and I knew you hadn't produced a single record on them. They are great so listen to urban and electronic music, the low-end is so coloured that anything sounds amazing on it. Try and track a mix youll hate them.
