I haven't seen any of these films yet (shame on me). But I've got to say something:
Rainbow six series rocks! :D (A game series based on Clancy's books). Actually, I'm gonna read some of his books, as soon as I get the time for it :p |

hmm...movies sucked imo
...patriot games was prolly least suckiest of them tho...followed by red october (i really hate that baldwin dude and his clones :D - no reason, just don't like him)
the books r far better...clear and present danger was a good read, pity the movie was so ...and yeah rainbow six is good too, would be a good movie, but i thought c&pd would be good after reading that too :(
haven't read or seen sum of all fears yet, but doesn't look too interesting from what i've seen, the game's pretty cool tho...kinda going back to rogue spear/rainbow 6 style with close combat missions rather than shooting someone on the next bloody mountain or something, as in ghost recon :p

i never read any of his book but all movies (hunt and danger especialy) are great!! in the red october the sub feel is way beyond any other sub film!! nad the tention is extreme..
in clear and present danger the whole movie is VERY intellegent, suber-b plot and story and great acting!!

i havent read any of his books but have seen all the movies us listed
hunt for the red october was the best of them IHOP. Sean Connory rules and baldwin did a good job. i luv submarines.
btw, i agree with u, the first half of sum of all fears was good the second had too much impossible feats by jack ryan than you can shake a stick at and the standard happy hollywood ending, having a picnic with ur girl in front of the wht house, how much more sappy can u get! what about 500,000 dead frying in baltimore. |

| Hunt For Red October was the best movie out of all of them. I didn't know till the last movie that every character was the same in every movie just different actors potraying them. Kinda like Batman :)! |

Sorry but I thought they all sucked!
I'm a purist about things like books. I movies will never do a book justice. Hollywood always wants to make things politically correct and happy.
Sums of All Fears, ending just ruined the book's ending by far. Hollywood had to come in and make it polically correct. Come on, in the book it wasn't some stupid White Racist group that did it, and how they made the bomb was the best parts of the book. I read the chapter that Clancy walked through HOW a nuclear bomb works during the explosion, I read that chapter at least 15 times.
Clear and Present was a disgrace to the book. Again they made the ending a happy story, where as the book told how a war like that ends.
Red October and Patriot were OK, but did not keep the real intensity of his books. I mean, Sean Connery did a good job at Ramius, but then they flubbed it by casting a e supported crew.
I guess I'm just a purist about how a story is told. You read the book and you create it's intensity in your mind. Then you watch the movie and everything that you wanted from the book is not there.
Clancy is a great writer, intricate characters, and storylines. You can get lost in his books with his technical jargen alone.
If they are going to make a movie from one of his books that I could handle watching another person's view of the story, then it would have to be Red Storm Rising. Hands down Clancy's greatest book.
