T -Raks Mastering Plugin?

I am after a mastering plug in preferably a freeware if possible just so I can learn the ropes! I was suggested to use T Raks but its pricey for a first crack, and is it worth while?

Any pointers greatly appreciated as always!

What DAW? every DAW has an EQ, compressor and limiter, learn from there?
Energy_3
I knew someone was going to say that. Logic 9 which im sure is more then capable I guess or is it?

Is eq, compression and limiter simply the steps toward mastering or is it a separate tool?

I think you should learn to walk first..

Logic plugins are MORE than enough to learn the ropes.

Yep, learn to become comfortable with all Logic factory plugins and you will have a good foundation to work from. no need to even think about mastering if you can't put together a mix that you're 100% happy with.

learn about EQ, compression and limiting. don't worry about "mastering"

tink about it this way: Mastering is NOT a mandatory final step for a track. It's basically one fixing someone else his "errors" getting the maximum potential from the track. good mixes seldom need tweaking.

Why would you like to learn how to tweak your own tracks?!? you should just stay in your project longer and learn much more from there. Deliver the perfect mix, then you're ready to think about the first step of all steps: Acoustics...... don't worry about fighting sympthoms, focus on the cause!

Will do, i think im getting there though i dont know what it is im actually doing in terms of knowing specifically what each component does. But, my sound is sounding so far i think clean!

it's a long journey if you want to do things right, but the "learn to walk before run" is really true, It's all about forcing yourself to get comfortable with the things you tend to avoid, rather than buying that "magic fix"

True I agree thats why I am on his posting seeking advice and direction from those who know better,

Raphie
you'll get there

Learn to walk first - as in learn to get a good mix first, mastering is just the final polish
