Alright, don't really feel like getting into a big argument here but i'll state my opinion anyways...

I don't think you can blame it on the venue in this case since its a top quality club - - people are not going to miss Shlomi Aber cause of Stereo but instead because they just do not know who he is. Or they know who he is but only can/want to go to a night where it will be packed.

You can blame it on the promoters more or less depending on the situation but then again you can only promote so much. you cannot force people into the club if they don't know the artist. I remember seeing jamie jones like maybe 2 years now (may be a bit more or less..memory is hazy) play to less than 200 people at Stereo. He wasn't very known back then. At least here anyways since Montreal is always a bit behind. Now that he has his label, the fact that crosstown rebels blew up etc and after the RA top DJ thing, he would fill the club up on his own regardless of any promotion or venue involved...

Basically, I'm not blaming the people for this, although I do wish they would try new things more. I'm merely just stating that this is situation for the lesser known international bookings at Stereo.

ah alright. my memory is hazy then. but then again on his own back then he wouldn't have brought that much people and of course that would be a different story now.

anyways my point was you can't always blame the club or promotion in this city because our population is quite small..theres only so many people that go out to afterhours in the city and therefore this affects the nights with lesser known (in Montreal, obviously they're established elsewhere) artists.

the only people that should give a about how many people are coming are the owners of the club. We all know its gonna be a great night regardless of how many people show up. I rather enjoy a handful of humble people that know whats up than 800 people in sunglasses waiting to hear a bassline. But I dropped out of economics at Mcgill but what do i know.

in theory i agree completely with what you say, but when it comes down to it, a decently filled club usually helps make the vibe of the night.

Agreed. It sucked when around 6:00 am there was 80 peeps for Guy J...

this is the danger with consistently booking big names... the moment you book a local or someone less big, your club is empty in comparison to other nights... sad. but true.

happened to tribe thursdays and aria...

Remember Dany Torrence with his Climaxxx nights? Local DJ, big party always full (if I remember correctly), they built it from scratch didn't they? People went because of the branding of the party, they trusted them because they knew it would be fun and Climaxxx was just cool. They had t-shirts made and took pictures, etc... It was a happening every time.

You have to realize that most people don't know who those international DJs are (and don't care actually). They just go for the party and to dance all night or to be with their friends.

I don't know what else to say to help...

Do you guys have some jewish promoters? Maybe you could push the fact that Shlomi is from Israel? A bit like the Tunisians who came out strong for Loco Dice. Just some ideas.
