Hello boys, end of the year and nothing to buy... I'm thinking to get hands on a UAD. Some time ago I've dreamed to use the cambridge EQ and other plugs but nowadays, using Logic EQ (very precise, with built-in graph analyser) and other goodies, I don't know if UAD worth some pennies anymore...
Well, I've heard that it adds latency is this true?
I have some problems with latency because I use some hardware synths...
My Virus Ti Snow has some timing problems maybe if UAD adds an extra latency can ruin my setup...
Well, what you think guys?
UAD for this Christmas?
EDIT: Oh happy Christmas motherfuskersss!!! |

The general consensus seems to be that they're now outdated and not worth the money - the cards pretty much just act as an expensive dongle. I've not used them but there are a few on here have, so I'm sure they'll be along to comment soon. If you do decide to buy one though, M4B has some UAD stuff for sale IIRC. |

Nope
The crippling dsp and latency not to mention lack of 64 bit drivers make it just not worth it at all. They are as good as everyone else. Plus the negative stuff I mentioned, really can't recommend uad as a smart purchase.
I own 2 cards, most of the plugins. Most have spent so much that they can't see clearly. I got them for free so I think my opinion is unbiased. |

They would make a killing if the released some of their plugins as VST/AU without the need for that junk hardware. We've all got mega fast Intel processors these days, as if we need external DSPs to run FX. |

Hey Clooney to each his own.
I just got their moog filter and I am loving it,it's hard to think of a non dsp plug in with that sort of sound quality. it just sounds great, of course it's expensive don't get me wrong I am not happy about that in fact I don't think I will ever own even 40% of all their so I just buy what I need and use it wisely. As for 64 bit it should be out this year (they have been saying that for a long time now) - as a logic user I still boot her up on 32 bit though so not a big deal for me yet.

Fabfilter volcano, filterfreak, and acoustica nebula can pretty much replicate it.
Moof filter is joke. Ya I get it, now add some ing features and mod capabilities. There is a reason they didn't years ago. Now they don't add code because people seem to enjoy crippled software pretending to be analog.
And the 32 bit bridge in logic is a joke.
Non dsp? All software is dsp. Uad uses 10 year old dsp. Your iPhone makes the uad dsp look like an Atari. Now think about a quads core processor. Uad dsp is a joke.
I mean there are new companies using Cuda, uad is using antiquated chips. Check out liquid sonics. |

I'm trying to give people a realistic view of uad. You are justifying an antiquated dongle that still doesn't have 64 bit drivers, is crippled beyond description and is average. It is all smoke and mirrors. There is a native solution for every single plugin they have. How you can justify supporting a product that has taken this long for drivers, crippling their plugins with dongles shows how far people will take it up their ass and giggle. |

it's a business mate, no hardware=no money. The products are well good and they sound great in my opinion. This discussion is futile as your mind is already made, I am not set out to change your mind just to express mine. I am not a UAD fanboy and I use plenty of other plugins and software, I just don't have anything against them. :D |

You are a sucker. My mind is made up because of the facts mentioned. You are the one ignoring common sense. Synchrosft is working for the rest of the world. The uad hardware is a joke and you are an idiot if you can't at least acknowledge that.
But you are uad's prime market. Don't really know better. Easy prey to hype marketing and just all round naive. |

Have you seen the prices of their stuff anyway? I'd rather buy outboard synths. |
