There's mathmatical patterns in music.. so i think it's more then noise. :)
But i guess it makes us feel good, it feeds our emotions. |

Funny how this post seems to run along side mine.
You could take this question a step further...
example: Does your social structure/background and music co-relate?
ie. Do snobby people listen to classical? Does living in a ghetto point you more towards rap? Where would Trance come in?
Damn...just call me Sigmund Freud today... :p |

when one assumes that a person would listeb to music based on the emotional conections wouldn't it be easy to say that yes, people who are ghetto listen to rap because a lot of rap is about that sort of lifestyle. And classical for successful people; it has been proven that classical heightens brain activity which my be the attraction to successful people for whateve rreason..
hmm.

Is it just classical that heightens your mental capacity or does all music do it to a certain extent???
BTW.. I'm sure almost everything heightens your mental activity..even watching TV. |

| I'm sure its not just classical, but the arrangement, complexity and other elements all work different parts of ther brain. |

| Well, the philosopher Schoppenhauer thought that all human behaviour is a result of some evil/chaotic will. This is supposed to explain why we feel envy, do stupid/bad things for simple purposes such as sexual relief and sometimes feel the irresistable urge to laugh hysterically when receiving news of someone elses misfortune. Schoppenhauer believed that we cannot fight this will, but that we have one other option: we can pacify it by listening to music. In other terms, music is the key to suppres the beast inside of us while forgetting the bad around us. I agree with that. |
