I was thinking the same thing:wtf:
I think the first thing for us to know is, what the hell genre of music are you trying to make? |

I'm thinking music for film/games, as I hear that is where the money is. So probably a combination of Techno, DNB, Classical, etc. I originally was interested in doing club music, but I figure unless I'm a trendy mainstream DJ, I could never make a solid living doing music. So I've expanded my horizons... |

| I just don't like the fact people conform to a specific genre just because it's "in" at the moment. For example, the current brostep/complextro craze. It's so stupid. Why make music if you're not even really into it? That's why I greatly admire artists like Aphex Twin, Autechre, etc. |

I fell into this problem when I was trying to hard to make music that is easy to mix in/out of for lazy ass DJs. I also fell into the I need a transition effect before every new instrument. Once I started understanding how other genres like IDM work, I cut all that nonsense out. I hate the whole idea of how a bunch of EDM songs need to be easily mixable for DJ's to play. A bunch of producers already do the DJ's work by creating all the effects and transitions in the track. |
