Good fingered/picked bass samples.

I've been looking at the Scarbee/etc ones from NI as I've got an e-voucher, but I suspect they may be a little bit one trick pony.
I'm not fussed about having built in amp solutions as i've got Guitar Rig, Amplitube etc.
I'd really like something with decent keyswitching for slides and slap etc, and other than that just something that sounds ace.
Preferably a Kontakt instrument as well.

Trilogy sounds very nice, so does the East West stuff.
I don't have Trilogy installed on my current PC but if you send over a MIDI I could try throwing it into Colossus and exporting the raw sound, if you can't find anything else. |

Actually, looking at the electric bass video for Trillian that might not be a bad call! Cheers :)
The DX21 bass wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I'm having that as well! :D |

As a pro bassist of many decades, I'd go with Trilian and don't waste your money on anything else. Especially if you have already have Omnisphere, because you can load the Trilian samples into Omni for editing.
A decent and much cheaper library to check out for Kontakt is Orange Tree Samples Cherry Bass or Cherry Bass Slapped.
Pettinhouse has also has a Kontakt bass library, but I think the OTS one is better and has more stylistic variations. |

I'm sold
Just watched both Persing electric bass videos and I lol'd in GAS
It'll sit with Omni nicely! |

Trillian is awesome, for many different reasons. One of which you need with these samples :) |

why not get a real bass? I doubt it has the same learning curve as a triangle but still its probably not super super hard to learn to play a couple riffs on it and maybe even a bit of slapping.
I understand it demands a bit of time to learn but its definitely the best way to get some real sounding bass (obviously lol)
not trying to push my opinion on you btw |

I agree with this in principle, and in fact i've been learning the guitar for the last year for the same reason.
The issue is that I don't have another year to learn the bass as well as I've got a project that needs a solution very soon. Also, even with a years practice i'm still only going to be able to do basic fingering with maybe the odd little frill here and there. There's also the issues of actual recording, proper bass amps and tone which are irrelevant with good samples. Achieving good tone with bass and guitars is akin to voodoo! |
