and why do they need ultra? well its a nice payday without any of the headaches of throwing your own event.,....but they dont NEED Ultra.... |

Set Times for ASOT 500 last year:
Marcuss Schossow: 12:00-01:00 1 HR
Alex M.O.R.P.H.: 01:00-02:30 1.5 HR
Cosmic Gate: 02:30-04:00 1.5 HR
Gareth Emery: 04:00-05:30 1.5 HR
Ferry Corsten: 05:30-07:00 1.5 HR
Armin van Buuren: 07:00-09:00 2 HR
ATB: 09:00-10:30 1.5 HR
Sander van Doorn: 10:30-12:00 1.5 HR
8 dj's with an average 1.5 hrs set time. If they add more the set times will be even smaller. I also don't see any reason to bring along these other trance dj's and them not play at the all day trance event that same day. Just my opinion. |

Marcuss as in Schossow. Not Markus. I go to all his shows when he plays here at home in SPACE. Sure, no headaches, but look at what SHM just accomplished. They just did a show at MSG, didn't ever think something like that would ever happen. Why get tied down to an event when you can do your own thing. |

Anyways to play along, neither Marcus nor Markus is a big name, when compared to actual big names like Tiesto, Guetta, deadmau5, Afrojack, etc.
Schulz is a big name on tranceaddict.com but not amongst high school and college kids who like to eat bad Molly and go to festivals like Ultra. |

He has a point. Big names now mean whatever the young'uns are listening too. Case in point, this past summer I was working with a lot of college age kids and none of them knew who the hell half the people I was talking about was. At the mention of Skrillex and etc. they were "OMG REALLY WOWOWOWOWOOWW!"

| BTW on the Friday of MMW 2011, Markus sold out the MAIN ROOM of Space, not the terrace. Toolroom Knights and SVD played on the terrace and those tickets were totally separate from Markus tickets. Though virtually the same because either one got you into any part of the club. |

You're right and I'll add that he is quite popular in Miami clubland. South Florida definitely loves the man. But among Ultra's target audience, he's not a big name.
Ultra's target audience doesn't like trance. The ASOT stuff is just a ploy to get trance fans to buy Ultra tickets, and yes, AVB and SVD and Ferry are big names period, but that's really as far as it goes, at least in the U.S. |
