The black planet is a distant world inhabited by an advanced species not dissimilar from your own. Presented here is a virtual guide to its regions, in sonic form. I have selected from available audio that which should allow the listener to build a strong mental image of our tour, a description of which is detailed:
We begin with the arrival, a glimpse of the planet from above as we descend through space towards the northern region of the planet, guiding our craft out beyond the swirling winds towards clear skies, brilliant white ice sheets and vast turquoise crystal oceans. Approaching land reveals the northern habitat, the central metropolis of the northern hemisphere and the forefront of technological advance. We drift between sky-piercing architecture, fluid neon lights and busy streets, which gradually give way to the towering dark mountains. Constantly shrouded in black cloud, steep, rocky peaks fall away to deep valleys where river systems meet and give life to vegetation. From here we explore deep into the rainforest region, a self-sesutaining environment inhabited by ancient tribes. Flying beyond leads to the southern habitat, the planet's second major hub with a steeper cultural history than the futuristic north. This visit is almost complete as we spiral upwards through the clouds to escape velocity, leaving the black planet behind. Until the next time...
