these are really nice tracks.
i think your mixing style is impatient. i lasted maybe 40min and by that time i was already tired. there's no sense of an arch extending across the mix. it feels much more like you could only maintain for a few tracks before dropping something else that changes up the flow. that said, there is good variety in the selection, and the idea itself is also solid. if this is gonna be your promo mix, though, there needs to be more cohesion especially between the introductory section and the beats. when you mixed between tracks 3&4 the latter was too loud coming in, and was nearly full volume way before you went to drop it. it ended up clashing with the preceding track <--example of wobbly flow right there.
coincidentally, i found an old ambient/downtempo mix you made in 2009(?) yesterday. same thing there happens -- you made these nice sections with 2 or 3 tracks before restarting the flow. |
