Me & John are lucky we got there. We never got beyond the gate but I was amazed to see the turn out for this. First off, I got home from work at 6:15 and John ran out of gas driving home from work. We ended up leaving his house at 7. I sped from mid LI to NYC in about 40 minutes and then the big question arose. Where the F**** is Pier 54?I mixed up 13th ave and street and just drove down by the water. We managed to see large groups of people all walking in the same direction and asked them where the pier was. They said "just follow us". Then I thought where am I gonna park? A spot opens up right in front of the pier right after I say that.
As for the show we got there a little before 8 and couldn't get beyond the gate. Had to be at least 4000 people there. Many were camped out on the lawns & sidewalks. The music was loud. I can just imagine what it was like to be up close. Standing at the gate was as loud as being at the bar at Exit. About 20 cops directing traffic and a pissed off park commesioner screaming the event was over and for everyone to go home. Someone said Digweed never showed up so Sasha played for an hour. I have to say he definetly rocked NYC. The cars outside the pier were vibrating from the bass. Moby even sounded good. He actually played and sung that song by Trance Allstars - Go!
I'm jealous of the 2000 people who got past that gate. |

I don't care what anyone says.. seeing Sasha spin for an hour was worth it... We might have had to listen to some terrible mixing from the opening dj and some rock from Our Lady Peace but once Sasha came on the evening got a lot better...
His performance at Arc was nothing compared to what he did today. It was like a whole different Sasha. He was jumping around, looking up at the crowd and all.. it was amazing (for him at least)... and the stuff he spun.. he threw in some airdrawndagger tracks... pure bliss... :D He used his laptop for some sampling and the intro too... it was awesome...
If he brings stuff like this to Roxy, we're in for one hell of a night...
The sound system on the pier was pretty damn good... john mentioned you could see the bass vibrate the cars.. on the pier it was amazing... it's too bad it cut out twice while Sasha was spinning.. :whip: |

i went and was pretty close. sasha was great, even though he only played 4 or 5 tracks. anyone know what that track he played with the strumming guitar? that was a nice record... the sound did blow out the first 2 times he tried to play, but they finally got it going. he dropped xpander at the end and everyone loved it.
moby was after that and played for a while. he was pretty good but he talks to much during his shows (thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou...) ... overall, definitely a nice free party... i'm glad i went.
now for frequency tonight (hopefully) and scott bond on friday....

| If he only spun fo ra 1/2 hour who was the other dj that spun from 8:15 to 8:45? Sasha as expected ripped it up for us....he was amazing :D . After he finished it off and moby started playing people got up and left ... until we heard what he was playing. He droped some hard trance song , something you would hear Johon play:happy2: . Then we all stoped to heer moby do his thing. But obviously a good thing cant last forever because after the song he started going into some stupid story about where he used to dj and how the titanic survivors stayed on Pier 54  his next song was a disco song dedicated to all the transexuals in nyc hehe that was funny . |
