the party we attended was the black moon party which is a smaller version of the full moon party.
it was okay it was fun, at least worth going once in a life |

Haha, that's not far from the thruth.
I actually had a great time during the full moon party, but don't have high expectations on the music. If you want to have drunken fun on a beautiful beach with other backpackers, it's a great place to be though :) The party-goers were probably 19-25 yrs old if I have to guess.
All the hostels and huts on the island are almost always fully booked a couple of days before the party, so be sure to be there early. Peopling are partying on the beach every night the final week before the party and I actually thought that those nights where even better, mostly because the beach was TOO crowded during the real party.
They usually play all kinds of music on the beach. Most bars actually play commercial rnb and pop nowadays and a couple of bars play psy-trance (mostly full-on) and some drun-n-bass/jungle.
Stay away from the "Magic mountain" by the way ;)
