I figured as much :p

By the way, you're not Bavarian, right? What German do you natively speak? If you say "Ik" instead of "Ich" and the like, it automatically counts as Dutch, and it means I'm the one who speaks better German :D

Why would you want to speak German? Unlike in France people around here speak English, so communicating should be no problem. And believe me, Oktoberfest is better if you don't understand the lyrics.

:stongue:

This is something I find funny about Romance countries. French scholar (as well as Brazilians) want everybody else to learn our languages and therefore write in our native tongues. Germans, Swedes, and pretty much everyone in Europe that doesn't speak a Romance language is fine speaking and publishing in English. Go figure :p

I'm not really a native Bavarian, but I would say I speak Hochdeutsch with Bavarian influences. And definitely I don't say "Ik", they do that in Berlin and it sounds idiotic.

Maybe it's because we can. No really, I heard a presentation from a French professor this year. Her English was awful. Actually, her English was French with some English terms. Seriously, I couldn't understand her. Took me half an hour to figure that "Leihsöööör"-thing she kept mentioning was a laser. It also killed me every time she tried to say Second Harmonic Generation, which, I think, was the topic of her talk. :stongue:

Yeah, within Germany I guess. What is your field / profession?

But seriously, French is the most retarded language ever. I'm not making that up, either. In a recent survey among linguists it was voted as such, narrowly beating a tribe language from Guinea whose words consist entirely of the sound old people make when sitting down.

I fully concur. french, and double- my University for making me take French because they won't accept Danish so I can test out of my language requirements. :whip:

das ist richtig. ich habe Deutsch ein paar jahre ins Schule gelernt, und ich habe ein Austausch gemacht. aber, mein Deutsch ist nicht perfekt :(

I fully enjoyed the "Bavarian" German as opposed to the "Berlin" German.

I just randomly remembered that you're awesome for having a Bavarian flag in your yard or somewhere like that.

German is about most unromantic language ever, while French makes my toes curl in a horny way.

But I agree about Oktoberfest. Gooo drunken German drinking songs! Ein prosit!
