Deep stab/chord synth, need some help!

So for a while now I have been trying to program those deep chord stab synths that you typically here in dub techno and deep house.

An example starts at about 1:03 in this track..

I have a few patches that are kinda close, but are much to bright. What might you suggest? have you achieved this style of stab? what were the parameters in your patch to do so? Would love some feedback.

Sounds like an FM-based EP (electric piano, probably a Rhodes or Wurli style) with a low-pass filter on it.

i did a tutorial for loopmasters, not exactly this sound but the same idea...

I posted these in response to the same question on another forum.

This site has a bunch of video tutorials for making various stabs. http://www.fleetmusic.blogspot.com/

People don't seem to understand that this is a chord, not a patch that plays every note.

Single saw
Lp filter
Env with no attack , bit of decay for the pluck, lowest sustain value, tad or release to avoid clicks.

Now just play a minor 7 chord

Adding a 9th doubling the octave and omitting the 5th is usually what is done.

yup dude found a patch in absynth that played a 9th and was like "got it!"

Negative sir! lol. abletons operator, 2 saw waves, lp filter, low attack high decay very low sustain and almost no release. reverb, ping pong delay and some other effects! So ing simple I almost feel stupid for asking how it was done. :P
